Well, here goes. My dad and I were in the process of installing my new head unit and speakers. Head unit went in without any complications and worked well, so we took apart the first door (front passenger). After looking at different ways to mount my speakers, we drilled a few new holes to fit the Crutchfield brackets I'd ordered, and put some screws in. Shortly after this, we noticed that my door lock wasn't working on that side. Then on all of my doors. By that point I could still move them manually, but afterwards they just.. stopped. After some pondering, we checked the Door fuse (Man, our inside fuse box is a pain to get to!), which was burnt. Now, this is a 25 amp fuse, and admittedly it was a bad idea, but we checked with the spare 30A fuse to see if it would work (Accidental shorts happen, sometimes). Anyway, after a faint click from the locks, nada. The fuse appeared to be fine, no visible signs of burning and it tested fine with a multimeter.. So we looked inside the door, and lo and behold, one of our screws had gone through the cluster of wires inside of the door. Now, I know it sounds bad, but it had just grazed two wires: blue with dots, and white with red stripe. It had just taken off enough insulation to make contact between the two and short out. After taping them up and trying again, still no luck. Looked at other fuses, looked around, couldn't find what could possibly still be wrong. Everything else works fine, minus the dome light (it works when it's turned to On, but it doesn't work with the doors), and the fact that my doors won't lock. So my question to you is, where else should we look for a problem, and what would a possible fix be? Is anyone fairly good at electrical, who could point us in the right direction? I tried to put in as many details as I could, so I'm sorry for the long post. Hopefully someone knows what to do!*Note: Apparently the red/white wire is "Door Trigger", which would make a lot of sense..**Note 2: Does anyone have a wiring diagram for our cars?
Hello,What do you mean the locks stopped? Can't you manual lock and unlock them? It maybe binding and throwing the whole system out of wack.Did you try to unlock button on the pass door? it could be you shorted out the switch or damaged the wire. Check out this link and it may helphttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=31372Or this link which seems to be the same issue you have. It could be you cooked this modulehttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=36217Good luck
Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. I tried, but couldn't get the locks to budge at all and the unlock button on the pass door didn't work at all, either. It seems my locks on all four doors are frozen in the unlocked position. I guess I should be thankful they didn't all stop in the locked position, at least.
Spray the lock cylinders with wd40 or something like that and wiggle the key around. They're probably seized from not being used.As for the power locks, check the relays (although I have no idea where they would be, this manual might tell you: http://madstyle1972.com/Repair/ ). And of courde, fix those wires... and check to see that they wern't the only ones damaged.
Is it possible that somehow the lock control is sending a constant unlock voltage to the door lock solenoids? You said you could move the locks manually until you replaced the DOOR fuse. Try pulling the DOOR fuse again for now and see if you can you lock the doors manually. If not, try it after completely unplugging the wires form the door lock solenoid (if that's even possible)The unlock switch when pressed sends a ground to the controller. Maybe you have accidentally shorted to ground one of the unlock switch wires.
Update: We tried unplugging the door/unplugging the battery but still no luck. Dad thinks it's probably a relay somewhere, so he's gonna check one part of the circuit at a time in the hopes of finding the problem.Worst case scenario, I'll take it to our mechanic and see if he can figure something out. Otherwise, well, I guess I could always switch to manual, non-power locks...
Update: We think it may be the integration relay. My power windows stopped working while my dad was checking stuff. They were down and it's kind of cold to be driving with the windows down, darn Canadian winters. He managed to make them go up today by putting power directly from the battery into the drivers seat window switch, and after checking the wires he said those were okay, so more and more it points in the direction of a relay or something. The problem has to be between the battery and the switch.Good news is car is drivable in the winter weather again. Bad news is the doors still won't lock and the windows aren't going down, so no drive-thrus for me More to come when he removes the integration relay tomorrow and looks into it. The madstyle1972 diagrams helped a lot with finding everything.
What, where is an integration relay? What does it control?

I'm not *100%* sure, because I don't have much experience with electrical systems and whatnot, but from what I understand it's the relay where most circuits for the car's interior go through. I think it's also been called the Body Control Module or something.. It's located around (or on) the inside fuse box, underneath that little change tray to the left of the steering wheel. I hope that's what it is, because otherwise we're stumped as to where the problem could be. Wires - fine, fuses - fine, switches - fine... must be a relay, right?
