I have owned my 2006 Vibe GT since February 2006 (brand new) and now it has 113,000 miles on it and it has only required normal maintenance since I bought it. Right before Thanksgiving this year ,however, the transmission has started to make a "whining" sound - especially at low speeds and colder weather. I never had the transmission lube changed so I am going to do that ASAP. Could it be something more serious? It still has the original clutch. Patrick
That sounds like a bearing issue. If it is bearing noise then that is bad and will eventually kill the trans. The 2003-2008 5 speed manuals suffered from this issue but the 2003-2004 were affected the worse. However isn't yours a 6 speed manual trans? I have never heard of a 6spd manual trans doing this. I would take it over to a trans place and have the thing looked atGood luck
I took it to a mechanic today but, it wasnt making any noise today. He took it for a test drive and said it is most likely the throwout bearing. So I guess while I am at it I will get a clutch , pressure plate, and throwout bearing. He also commented on how "peppy" the car was and I replied that "I love this car" .... Patrick
