Hey Viberators,I'm coming up on 210k on my 2003 base vibe, I filled up my tank yesterday and since then my fuel gauge has been stuck on full. It drops back to home position when I turn it off, and goes back to the full mark. It is decently cold out (about 25-35F) and the vehicle has been driven and warmed up. I'm not sure if it is the gauge is bad or not. I've never had any issues with it before this. I did fill about a $1.20 over where it "stopped" automatically at the pump, (which is about a 1/3 of a gallon). It seems like it has gone down maybe a hair, but it went back to the position it was before. I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas, like parking it in a warm area or tapping the fuel tank or something. Thanks ahead of time,-[MisterHighway]

You didnt mention if this was an on going issue or something that happened with this tank only? You also didnt mention how many miles you have driven on this tank?I'll drive 60-100miles before the gauge moves off full.

While I doubt that would cause the fuel gauge to stick, it can lead to expensive damage to the fuel tank emission control system. I see people at the local supermarket station doing that because they are getting perhaps $1 off each gallon in rewards. That extra 40 cents you save can get costly. Many also fill 5 gallon cans - IMO the danger of transporting gasoline in that manner isn't worth the money saved. When my old gasoline mower bit the dust I got a Black & Decker battery powered one in part to eliminate handling/storing even a 2 gal container of gasoline.

Fill it at the max setting you will end up having less fuel in he tank. If people weren't in such a hurry and filled the gas tank slower they wouldn't have to keep clicking every last drop in to the tank and ultimately into their evap system.
