Hey guys, I am new and got my ride just a few month ago right before my lengthy trip away. I have all of the papers of oil changes up to about 9000 km ago, at which point the trail goes dead. I bought the car used and looking through the manual briefly, it just states to change your oil every 8k on it, but didn't see any reference to a Change Oil light or anything like that. I am used to GM cars (that are not toyotas) and they always had a change oil light. Does a 2009 Matrix have a change oil light? I am thinking if I should change the oil now or wait for the light, but don't want to wait forever if there is no light in the vibes. Also, if there is a light, what are the reset procedures once you do the oil change?
I'm one of the few people in the world that actually reads the owners manual, and I found no references to any oil life monitors or Change Oil lights on either of our Vibes. We've had the lights on our Yukon and now on our Explorer, so it is something I do like to have. So I'm just running one of the trip meters on the Vibes between oil changes so I can keep track of the miles.

Like the previous post implied .... NO oil life monitor lights on our Vibes I too was spoiled with my work van (2007 chevy 2500 express) our older trailblazer & ford explorer which all had this feature. They include tire pressure monitoring (09&10 models) but NO oil life monitor

Lots of info in there!I've read the owner's manual cover to cover too ! The little maintenance notebook, along with a pen, the registration and insurance card, all fit nicely in the black owner's manual holder thing.

I too have read the owners manual though I admit I missed the part about the sun visor being able to slide out on the rod extending it's reach! My record keeping is a brother label maker and the front cowl of the car. After each oil change or significant service I make a tab and stick it by the radiator with the mileage and date. I also but a label in the upper left windshield indicating the mileage to CHANGE it next. It's not permanent record keeping but I the first and only owner know what has been done when. It works well for me on all of my cars.I also put labels stating lug nug size, oil nut size and oil capacity. I take care of a lot of cars and stuff like this doesn't stick in my brain well. Nothing more frustrating than crawling under a car with a 14mm wrench only to find out the nut is 15mm!! (or similar situation)The Vibe also had three (3) odometers. One for total accumulated mileageI use one that I zero out at an oil changeI use the other that I zero out at a fuel fillWorks for me!! Dave(can't zero this one out though!!)
