Electrical Issues/recirculation button/AC not working...

Post by xbeaus »

03 Vibe. Replaced the engine with lower mileage one. When I hit the air recirc button, light comes on dash but I hear nothing. Searched and found a lot about clicks that the flapper door motor makes but I hear absolutely nothing. Since the light is on I'm assuming power and fuse are good. Why would I hear nothing? The Air stream does not change either.Same with AC. Light comes on but nothing. No pull down. Clutch spins freely on condensor. Connections are good. I switched the horn and AC relay. Horn still works but AC nothing. Could this be a low pressure problem? I haven't looked into that yet. Rear drivers side brake light does not work. Replaced bulb, old was fine. Connection is good. Where to start testing for this problem?I think these are fairly simple and once they are fixed we'll have a good car. Bought it for my wife to run back and forth to work in. Thanks for any and all help! I'll continue searching in here as there are many things I have already learned but my issues are still evading me a little.

just figured out air recirc button problem. Took glove box off. PO had unhooked the recirc motor (uh oh) plug it in and upon open position click, click, click. I know how to fix. Gonna try the "don't take dash off approach"Now only 2 more to solve! woo hoo!

I haven't had to work on our Vibes, (luckily) but on my other cars the AC clutch does not engage if the refrigerant is low or if the low pressure switch is defective. Usually you can jumper the pressure switch with a wire and it will kick in the compressor, thus confirming it is either low refrigerant or a bad switch and not a bad AC clutch. I really need to get a shop manual for our cars. They come in handy on my Mustang.Good luck!
