How much is it worth???

Post by NevadaNeptune »

I'm wondering what y'all think a fair retail price would be on an '03 Vibe GT with about 20,000 miles. The pertinant info:Moons and Tunes Package (Radio, Moonroof, etc.)Power Package (Power Windows, Keyless Entry, etc.)Neptune Color - Non-monochrome2ZZ with 6 speed (obviously)Always got Mobil 1 5W-30 changes every 5000 miles (after initial break-in changes at 1000 and 3000).Did I leave anyhting out?Let me know what you think it's worth. My wife and I just had twins and the Vibe is suddenly looking really small. Thanks in advance for the info!

I have a 6-yo and a 4-yo (both in car seats) and I find the Vibe has lots of room.Well, that car was probably right around $19K new. 20,000 miles in a year is alot so I'd say it's probably worth about $14K tops. I've seen base models with similar equipment and lower miles going for $11-12K.

Since Edmunds and Kelley do not have data, I would use Autotrader.com to see what prices look like in your area. As far as size, I use the Vibe with two car seats on occasion. However, depending on how much you travel with the kids, a van or SUV does offer much more room. (I have one of each.) Remember, it may be a long time before you have a fun car again.b Based on the prices in Autotrader, you may do ok to sell this early.

Neither kbb or edmunds list the 2003 Vibe... it's still too new.I'm glad that you think that you have enough room NovaResource, but with the two kids in rear-facing child seats and a double stroller stowed in the rear, there is not enough room for a standard load of groceries, let alone the dog. Goodbye 20s, hello minivan.

My store doesn't allow dogs.Do you really want a minivan? I have both and trust me, minivan fuel economy stinks and there is 0 "fun factor" like the Vibe (and they cost more). Seriously, think about how often you really need more space than the Vibe has. For long trips you can always get a roof carrier for the Vibe. I've used the Vibe to transport my wife, 2 kids and both their bikes (inside the hatch) to the park.

looking in autotrader, it looks like the GT goes for about $15-16.5K with the mileage you have.

You've got your hands full (no joke intended) I remember newborns, and how much stuff was required to take them anywhere. packing for a short weekend trip feels more like you're packing for an attempt on Everest. What are you thinking of replacing the Vibe with? If you're going to buy something new, it might be worth it to see what a dealer would offer as trade in. Been a member for 9 months, and your first post is about getting rid of the Vibe? You lurker you! When you do sell it, please let us know what $ you got for it, and what you replaced it with.Best of luck, and take care of them chilluns!

Hey folks, I didn't post just to get harrassed. I have made MY decision to get rid of it. I never take the dog to the grocery store, but I do often have to take the stroller - not much room after that. I DO take the dog for weekend trips, but YOU try fitting a 60 lb. dog and enough stuff for a weekend trip to wherever (remember that there are diapers, more clothes to replace the ones that have spit-up on them, toys, etc., etc., etc.) in the 'lil 'ol Vibe.As for lurking, sorry. I decided not to do the mods to the Vibe I had originally intended just in case something like this happened where I had to sell it. I haven't spent much time on the site since that desision was made. I just remembered the site when I was looking for prices. Thanks to those that provided assistance as opposed to harassment.

I'm sorry you felt harrassed by asking such a straightforward question. My comment about lurking was intended to be in good spirits, nothing more. Just trying to be funny, guess it didn't work. Happens to me too much.I completely agree with your comments about the Vibe being a tight fit for all your stuff. I have a 120 lb dog, and I limit him to the back cargo area, but that doesn't leave any room for other stuff back there. Can't imagine a long trip with two babies, two parents, a dog and all the stuff that everybody needs for even an overnighter, all in a Vibe. You can do it, but you can also get something else to do it more comfortably. With even just one kid in a car seat it can be useful for a parent to sit next to them, you would have a miserable trip if you tried to sit between two car seats in the back of Vibe.I think sometimes we can get a bit carried away here with pushing the idea that the Vibe is the ultimate vehicle, but I guess that's kind of what this site is about. There's also a lot of focus here on "mods", and if you're not really into mods then a lot of the content here doesn't apply. I like my Vibe, and will not be doing anything much at all to change it. I understand it's limitations, and it seems that you do also. I think a lot of comments were intended to be funny, and nobody seriously expected to change your mind, and nobody intended to harrass you. When we had kids, we got a minivan. It was a good decision, and I put a quarter million miles on it in 10 years. If I had to care for infants/toddlers again, I would want something bigger than a Vibe too. Some of the current set of minivans are really nice.Savor every day with those kids, they grow up really fast. Twins must be a challenge, a lot of adjustments to make, a lot of compromises. The resale value of a Vibe is pretty much unknown so far. If you get a good price for yours, let us know. Thanks, good luck, and sorry your experience with this site was a hassle.

Personally, I was just offering suggestions to think about. Sorry for trying to help.quote:I never take the dog to the grocery store, but I do often have to take the stroller - not much room after that.Must be one large stroller. We had a double stroller too and I had plenty of room in my Vibe for it and groceries.quote:I DO take the dog for weekend trips, but YOU try fitting a 60 lb. dog and enough stuff for a weekend trip to wherever (remember that there are diapers, more clothes to replace the ones that have spit-up on them, toys, etc., etc., etc.) in the 'lil 'ol Vibe.Gee, with with having 2 kids of my own and one on the way, I never knew about diapers, more clothes to replace the ones that have spit-up on them, toys, etc., etc., etc. Thanks for informing me. I'll be better prepared when #3 gets here. BTW, never heard of a rooftop carrier for those few occasions you need the extra space?Again, sorry for offering options. Enjoy that minivan.

I know it's a public forum where people are free to express their opinions, but the guy was just asking what we thought his car was worth. He's going to sell it. He feels that a different vehicle will meet his needs better than his Vibe. Seems pretty straightforward to me. There's a lot of good info on this site, but sometimes it seems like the average vibe owner just isn't welcome. That's unfortunate.

He should know he's heading for trouble!, I mean your asking advice involved with getting rid of your vibe, TO A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY SPEND TIME WRITING ABOUT HOW GREAT THE VIBE IS!! If your feeling like everybody is not so happy with your decision, then u should rethink who the readers of your post are!

Are you thinking of replacing the Vibe with a GM vehicle before Sept 2? I can send you a GM in the Driveway certificate that entitles you to GM supplier price on GM vehicle. It would save a couple k on a Silhouette. In addition, you can get $750 off for GM loyalty, the rebate or 0 financing, and a 60k warranty.

look on the cars.com site...they have a $$ for your gt- retail is between 16,375 to 17,375...trade is between 13,300 to 13,600...hope you find a vehicle you can have fun with AND still haul your expanded family around in hauling that much stuff around in a vib would be kinda confining for me...shoot, i only have 1 kid and i would want something with some elbow room in it, wrestling car seats, bags and all that stuff around takes space when she was that small....good luck and take care of those little ones

Oh boy... here we go again! I apologize for some of the rude or sarcastic comments you felt you were receiving. Please no hard feelings...Congrats on the new fam, curious, what sort of new ride where you looking at? If you stick with GM product, you might be able to have some more leverage trading up with the Vibe. Depends on the dealership I guess. In any event, good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I went to the GM dealership and they were only offering around 14K. I really don't have much leverage because I get the GM discount. Oh well.If I can get out from under the Vibe, I'll probably end up with an Odyssey. 240 HP and Accord-like handling... not too shabby. Not to start another scuffle, but 0-60 in 9.0 for the Odyssey... that'll outrun the base Vibes out there right? That, and I was sold on that van when I saw the write-up about it in GRM. That was impressive! Thanks again for the supporting replies.

The Odyssey is very nice. I have 2 neighbors with them. Good choice.quote:Not to start another scuffle, but 0-60 in 9.0 for the Odyssey... that'll outrun the base Vibes out there right? Not mine (0-60 in 8.6 so far). My next door neighbor is a car guy and was telling me how fast his Odyssey is so we ran and I beat him by about half a car length. 240-hp is alot but remember, it's a 4300-4400 lbs vehicle compared to the Vibe which is about 2900 lbs. Still, that's one quick minivan. I was impressed.

is it really a good idea to have a mini-van that rips? when your kids are in the car, should you be punking out civics?

Yeah, but think about the look on that punks face when his riced-out Civic gets beat by a minivan!

Not with the kids in the car, but having the option when they are not around would be great. Fart pipe loses to soccer mom... I can see the headlines now.
