I really need help with this question.I recently had an accident with a truck tire on the highway. Darn retreads.Anyways, it caused over 1300 damage to my 2009 Base Vibe with manual stick. After the accident, something was hanging from my undercarriage and the estimator said it was my "engine cover". I picked up my baby today and took a peek at the undercarriage. I didn't see anything over the engine. There was another Vibe, but it was an automatic, but I peeked anyhow underneath. That car had no engine showing? The mechanic told me what I saw was the transmission cover, and since I had a stick, it would look different.Should I be seeing silver engine on the right side when I peek underneath from the front of the car? Can someone else with a stick let me know. I want to make sure the autobody shop didn't leave something off that they charged for.
The plastic covers on the front underside of the engine don't go back that far. You can see many things from looking front to back. Your catalytic converter may still be silver, the engine and transmission are grey. The clips (circled in red) break easily. The missing one has been ziptied into place. It was dragging at one point in time and was too difficult to remove completly (and not something I wanted to do in a pawn shop parking lot 200 miles from home!)
Thanks for replying SD. The area in question is marked "HERE" in your photo. It looks like I can see then engine right there? Is that how it's supposed to be in a stick?
