I purchased an FM Transmitter that can mount my iPod. It plays the music fiarly well, but I have noticed that the left speakers, though they work, and produce sound, have little to no left channel volume. This is particularily noticable on songs that contain sound (like guitar riffs) only on the left channel. When I play a cd, the sound comes out in full stereo (at least it sounds like it to me), but when I use the iPod + Fm Transmitter, there is no volume from the left side, or at least, no left channel sound (only what's supposed to be on the right, coming from the left, I tested this by putting all the sound balance to the left side, and almost nothing comes out) I wasn't sure if this is a problem with the sound from the iPod being transmitted, or if the radio sound hooks up to the speakers separately from the CD player sound. I would really like to know how I can fix this. If it is just the speakers, then I guess I'll just purchase new ones, and if it comes down to that, does anyone have any suggestions of where I could get a good deal on speakers for a 2007 Pontiac vibe?
Have you checked to make sure that the plug is fully inserted into the iPod? Otherwise, perhaps your transmitter is defective. Do you have another audio source that you could try the transmitter with (such as a phone), to rule out the iPod being the issue? It doesn't sound like a problem with the speakers or head unit to me, based on what you said about the CD player working well. It couldn't hurt to upgrade the head unit, though, since the integrated iPod controls are generally safer for on-the-road use and the sound will be significantly improved.

Look at the plug on your transmitter that plugs into the iPod.Does it look like this (the end that inserts, not the plug body)Or does it look like this??The bottom one is the stereo plug, notice the black bands around the tang? The mono plug only has one. Also as mentioned, make sure it is plugged all the way in.Honestly, the wireless FM modulator units don't work well. If you travel you are forever changing stations, there is station overlap, etc. Short of upgrading the radio run a WIRED FM modulator to your unit. This is similar to what Satellite radio add on units use. You can get them with RCA plugs on the unit which you than plug in an iPod - RCA adapter wire. You can even get the wire with a charging feature and run it to 12volts to charge your ipod as you play using only the one bottom Apple wire.http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-...r=1-1Dave
