Passenger Side Headlight Problem

Post by skylinedrifter »

My passenger headlight, both high and low beams, isn't working. I replaced the bulb and got nothing, I also replaced the fuse and that had no effect. Driver's side appears to be fine.Any ideas?

check the socket for rust, corrosion or bad connections.. Did you happen to check those two bulbs on the driverside? It's possible that if you touched the bulb even thou it's new you could have burnt it out as soon as you tried to turn it on.Check to see if they are working on the driverside. If they do then you know it's a wiring issue. If they don't, buy yet another bulb

Yes, the bulb works on the driver's side but not on the passenger. I also suspect corrosion of some sort, so I'm heading down the road to a junkyard to get a replacement H4 plug and will see how that works. Thanks!

before you did that did you try to parallel splice the lead from the fuse and just attach both ends to a light bulb? If it lights up, then the problem is somewhere in the wire going from the box to the lamp.

Well, It had to have been something in the plug, because I spliced on a new plug ($1 at the junkyard) and it fired right up with the same old bulb. :-)

That's probably a $90 repair at the dealer.
