Blower switch / resistor / motor?

Post by Lance »

Hey, I'm another one having issues with the blower on my '04 vibe. Read many of the posts on here and decided to replace the resistor...no workie. The blower works very randomly (maybe one a week), but when it does all speeds work. Should I try the switch in the dash or replace the motor next? Thanks,Lance

Welcome to GenVibe!!! I'd pull the dash panel and see what the connections look like. Maybe replace the switch knob.

typically when the resitor goes bad it doesn't go bad intermittently, and will usually reach a final stage where the blower only works on full speed. Your symptoms sound differentThere have been a number of members herre who have had the blower motor go bad, some say it is the brushes in the motor, others just replaced the whole unit. Not sure how eassy it is to access, but you might try turning the blower on high, and tapping the blower motor with a hammer. If that gets it working, then it would indicate the motor's failing. Tapping it might not get a bad motor to run, so it's not a definitive test
