2005 vibe P2238 new O2 and MAF Senors

Post by vibe_guy »

I popped a P2238 before heading on a trip. My wife went to autozone and told me it was the front O2 senor. Wasn't too concerned I threw a code before and it was an O2 senor. Fuel cleaner took care of it. Well after stupid bad mpg the enitre trip I've been trying to get it taken care of.I can get more details if you all would like but there's no leaks in fuel line so I don't see how it could be low pressure. And I've never seen a fuel pump "kinda" go out it's just stopped working. All wiring looks good. I replaced the O2 senor. Then I replace the MAF senor. After the MAF senor I could tell a difference in the way it ran. I thought I had it fixed. Well it's still throwing the code. I haven't had it read after the MAF replacement, but what code would I have jacked up by replacing the MAF? Although, the code is throwing faster after clearing now. I clear it by pulling the NEG terminal and letting it set. I've cleared it several times this way for other things such as not hooking something up and turning the car on.If you all have ANYTHING let me know this is getting stupid. If you can come up with some fine detail that I'm missing I'll recheck. 20-25 mpg in this car is not going to fly.is there any paper clip way to check the code and not have to go to autozone everytime or is that ways of the past? I guess I'm ordering a code reader. When you don't need it they're too much and when you do need it it'll be fix before it gets here.I also checked all fuses that said EFI and they're good. I don't have anything with me to check the EFI relay, but I notice a fan relay is the exact same so I swapped them. Don't know if this has anything to do with it or not but don't have much to go on for the moment.

ok so this morning my wife was about to head to work and she went to warm up the car and when she came back out it was very rough idle. sounded like it was just spitting and sputtering. Exhaust didn't smell right. When she hit the gas it would smooth out quite a bit. not perfect, but when returned to idle horribly rough again. So does that suggest it's the fuel pump? It's usually what I don't think it is. I could careless about being right any more this is going to be digging into my sleep now since we're all going to be getting up early to carpool.

Most of the POSTS I've read points to either bad O2 or wiring to it. I've read where people have added anti-foulers to the 1st O2 and that seemed to help.
