09 base exhaust

Post by vibe_mike »

i looking to install a magna flow exhaust (16848 or 16849), except the only problem is i have the 09 base model. the 16848 is for the AWD, and the 16849 id for the FWD, Independent Rear Suspension. does anyone know if either of these would fit on the base vibe (solid rear axil)??and if not does anyone know a brand that will work?thanks

I've run into the same problem, I have a base Vibe 2.4L with Solid Trailing Axle & I haven't found any exhaust kits from any supplier (Even TRD dosen't have one yet for the Matrix) - The one for the 2.4 AWD & GT with Independant rear suspension will not work as they are routed much differently than the solid axle - I even contacted Magnaflow and they said @ that time they were Not looking into developing a system for that model which is kinda weird as there are more of those models out there - Other than getting a custom exhaust put in I havent heard of any kits yet - hopefully they come out with one soon

Go to a local exhaust shop and get a custom exhaust done. It would more than likely end up being the same price, if not cheaper, then an aftermarket pre-assembled exhaust system.

I have the 2.4L base and I only swapped the muffler and tip but....One shop said they had enough room to make it go straight out the back with a straight thru muffler. This would have given me much more volume, I think. I stuck with the original configuration with the pipe winding around and the muffler mounted parallel to the rear bumper. It is barely louder than stock. So, you might want to go straight if you are looking for less back pressure and more sound.
