I've notice a noise around the glove box... it sounds like a cricket. Sometimes, the noise is there and sometimes it's not. It's a pretty loud high-pitch sound. I know that there were some threads about this similar problem. But the noise is still there even when I turn the Recirc on. My vibe has 51,000 miles...

Absolutely. I've had this sound for 3 years. It goes away in the summer, when there's humidity, but it's back with a vengeance now that it's cool and dry.My old thread about it, with a helpful thread suggestion about halfway down: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=36862I'm lazy and haven't fixed it, but I *will* one of these days.
My cricket is back, too. I looked at that old thread and laughed. I still keep telling myself that I'll fix it one day!

So it's my blower motor who died on me. I was thinking about getting one at a scrapyard... It's not expensive to buy it on Amazon. But the shipping from the US to Canada is a pain in the a$$... I bought a kit from A1 for my power locks, and UPS charged me $55 for the customs plus the $30 they've already charged me for the shipping! So you can understand why I'm trying my best to avoid having to deal with the customs... especially with UPS.Aside from that, I think that the blower motor is probably the one who is imitating a cricket Thanks guys!

I bought an used blower motor from a scrapyard. I've replaced it and tested it. No more cricket! :DBut I still wonder... what made the noise in my old one? Was it the motor? It was only 3 years old... Anyway, I was thinking about taking it apart to study it more carefully

If you do tear it apart, please post. I really want to know if I can lubricate something to make it stop. The cheap fix might be to zip tie the bottom, and "pull" it to a different positioning. When I used my hand and pulled the bottom of the unit toward me, it stopped chirping. It's been awhile since I've been down there when the car is running to check it out. But winter is here, and it's singing to me.
haha now that it's cold and dry, there are so many rattles in the car. During the day when the sun's out there's no rattle, but when the sun's down and temperature drops, hello rattles!coming from the b pillar, glove area, behind radio, dash, seats, and windshield area...pretty annoying if you ask me =/
I drove my moms car a few days ago. Its a Matrix 03 with 83,000 km on it. It also had a cricket. So does my dads Celica 02. I wonder why Toyota didn't correct that problem... Isn't there any complains on that matter? Anyway, I've look at my old blower motor and I notice that the rotor (the white round thing that spin) was loose. You can shake it. My new motor has it's rotor solidly attached to it's motor. Which led me to conclude that it may be loose because the thread is all worn out. I wonder why it wore out that rapidly... considering that my car is only 3 years old...
