17" Tire pressure? OK I'm an idiot!

Post by P POPPR »

For the life of me I can't find any indication on the vehicle as top the correct inflation pressure for 17" tires. I've dug through the owners manual and I find no reference to this spec. Am I blind or s2pid? Thanks in advance.

Proper tire inflation is indicated on the placard inside the driver door jamb. It also indicates date of manufacture, and maximum weight capacities.

It actually is on there. Front: 32 psi, Rear: 32 psiI believe the tires are overinflated for shipping, and the dealer, as part of prep, is supposed to reduce the pressure down to 32. Obviously, many dealers overlook this.

Thanks Mike. On James Stewarts suggestion I found the sticker in the glove box. I expected to find specs in the door jam and thought the owners manual would have exact inormation. I didn't know that tires are over inflated for transport.

I didn't realize it either. We had a long discussion on this a while back. I found this in another thread. It's a quote from the pre-delivery inspection document given to all dealers.quote:General Motors vehicles are shipped from the factory with tire pressures from 35 psi to 41 psi. Tire pressures are set higher at the assembly plants to assure proper tire bead seating.
