I know all about the different ways to disable both DRL's and auto light, but I like auto lights. After some research I decided to use the cut the red and white wire method. Now, since I am used to auto lights in all my cars I find myself driving with no lights at night in well lit areas which is not cool. Other cars can't see me. Is there an option to just disable the DRL's. I am getting ready to put in my HID's. Thanks
Honestly, I use the parking brake trick to disable drls, but the downside to that is that the red BRAKE light on your dash is lit. If you can get past that, pulling your e-brake up one click, which does NOT engage the brake physically on your tire, but it is enough to trigger the sensor to shut off the drls.If you do it this way, your lights will still come on at night but not during the day. Also, if you do not want to have to see the brake light on the dash, find another method for wiring it. I have seen there are many on here.Remember, DRLs and auto night lights are seperate. As long as you leave the sensor plugged in on your dash for the nighttime lights, they will still function.
I'm pretty sure cutting the red/white wire at the DRL module disables both DRLs and auto headlights. I did that to mine, put in a switch, drive around almost all the time with auto drl/headlights enabled, but use the switch in those rare circumstances when I need it.Sounds like you might want to reconnect that wire, and then go after the mod described in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=38372
