Introducing my new 1963 Impala SS. It's a numbers matching 327 Four barrel, Powerglide tranny, positraction differential, with power steering and windshield washers. Yes she needs a bit of work, but I like a project. I plan on doing everything except the bodywork. I'm a wrench turner, not a body guy. I think this car is as long as two Vibes.

When I was in high school the 50 year old cars were the original Model T's. Now the 50 year old car is a 1963 Chevy. My first car was a 1955 Chevy Belair that my dad gave me when he bought a 1963 Chevy. I sold that in 1965 for $250 buying a used 1957 Lincoln Continental for $750. I sold that in 1966 for $375 - buying a 1964 Cadillac DeVille Convertible for something under $3,000. In those days when a car hit 40,000+ miles it was time to trade.

Very nice project car K-Nine. Looks like I'm not the only GV member that will be wrenching on some old American Iron this winter. What do you have planned for it? Good luck with the build.

Good luck with the build.I plan on doing a mostly stock restoration. An all original SS is hard to come by, so why ruin a good thing? I'm more into cruising than hotrodding these days, anyway. Not that I don't love hotrods, I do enjoy low insurance rates. The only modification Iplan on making from stock is the paint. Fawn tan is so boring. I'm going with the factory red. I like a flashy car, and it will match my lava Vibe.

Always liked the early 60's Impalas, and you're starting with all the "good stuff" the SS package provided. Look forward to see your progress. And I agree on the insurance, was stunned when I found out how cheap the insurance is for my new/old Duster....not complaining though!

Thanks. I've been looking for a good Impala forum, like genvibe. No luck. Genvibe has me spoiled.

Great looking Impala!! The '62's through '64's were the best looking, IMO.A friend of mine owned a white '63 back in the '70's and the only thing I didn't like about it was the floaty ride. Hit a crest in the road and you felt like your stomach was going to come up. A slight "resto" on the suspension and brakes to tighten them up shouldn't hurt anything.. or at least the suspension? And resto-mods are hot now!!
