I was not a believer either, but I am now. The rolling distance and amount of brake effort are noticeable. Hoping to get 1 - 2 mpg more with these tires on the highway.
Something I have learned about mechanical things as they relate to physics: There is ALWAYS a compromise. And yes, I have learned that the hard way as well as observing other people's mistakes.Something Top Gear (British edition) learned about low resistance tires: They are low resistance because they offer little traction when the weather is bad or in high performance situations, such as hard cornering and emergency maneuvers. And they don't offer much traction even in the dry!!And yes, I absolutely HATE Good Year and all they stand for. I have personal experiences to back my feelings up. Enough so that I will never believe their advertising BS ever again in my lifetime.That said, and as a fellow member of this board, I wish you the best of luck with them.

I agree with the physics aspect and per my specific application, including climate I made the decision to go with these tires. As for tire company's, I don't like any of them! We are big Top Gear (UK) fans
Oh yeah. Us too. The others just don't compare to the original series. I have about 60 episodes saved to disk. Great stuff. Even my non-automotive wife looks forward to new episodes of that series.You may remember the episode they were "testing" (as much as they ever do ) was it the Nissan Leaf or a Prius on their track??That's the episode I was referring to.

My experience w/Good Year road tires goes far beyond the RS-A's. We have had no less than 4 sets of Good Year's over the last 10-12 yrs, most that were all ready on the vehicles in question. One set I bought as replacement tires. Two of those blew out w/o any known cause. One after a year (9-10,000 miles) and another after 18 months (+/-13,000 miles) with no explaination. All had lousey traction in wet weather and a noisy, hard ride.Plus GY customer service AND one of their Neptune stores treating me like some kind of automotive moron when in negotiations over the RS-A's that came on my Mazda was the last straw.When we bought our Vibe, it had two of original (?) RS-A's, well worn, and two Viva's on it. I got them off ASAP, within the first month of ownership... sooner if the tires I wanted to replace them with had been available at the time. But thank you for your words.

Guys, I appreciate your statements about your application and I feel the need to expound on my specific application. I drive 700 to 800 miles a week and drive 100's of miles and never touch the brake pedal. The low resistance keeps the vehicle rolling after the fuel is reduced causing the vehicle to maintain speed. Applying brake earlier due to this is OK and is expected by the design of the tire. I am perfectly OK with this per my application. The compromises these tires give for the mileage is OK with me. I did not purchase this Vibe for performance (1.8 FWD Auto) to me it is a mode to go up and down the highway with my tools and equipment. This is my 6th post and I can feel the Vibe!
Not criticizing, just wasn't sure what you meant. I always anticipate stops etc. and could handle the tradeoff of increased mph for stopping distance.

Putting GY Fuel Max on the Vibe tomorrow. Has triple treds on now, and while the performance on wet/snow/ice was very good, the fuel economy and tire life were very poor. GY is going to honor the warranty on the triple treds, and I have no problems with them as a company. So far.I've had fuel max on a Caravan and a Corolla and was very happy with traction, cornering and braking performance.
Let us know how your GY tires do in the SC weather. I have nothing good or bad to say about the GY tires on my car(probably the original ones) They will be coming off for a set of Kumho tires soon enough. I got a set of Kumho tires because the Conti's I wanted were not in stock and liked how they had a good ride and good stopping.I originally had them on my Sonata which came with Michocrap MX4 tires which are junkGood luck with your new tires
So far I have no complaints with the tires. I have been in rain with them and was not uncomfortable with the grip. I have been in high cross winds and have not been uncomfortable with there grip. In several thousand miles I will have a better understanding of the tires and will keep posted. In regard to Kuhmo, I have had 3 sets on my other car. Very impressed with them, even enough to buy 3 sets of the same tire. The car will need tires in a few thousand miles and if the tire is still available I will do it again.
I have put 16,000 miles on the GY low resistance tires and have no complaints in any weather conditions I have traveled. I am seeing that they do actually add MPG's based on the suggested MPG for a 03 auto Fwd Vibe. I am pleased with them for my application.
