Help, won't start

Weird machine-gun like sound when I try to turn the car on...any ideas?

Lights work, door locks, etc... battery and airbag lights come on when this happens.

Get a jump, that should start your Vibe. Then check out your battery, it may be getting old and not providing enough juice to turn the engine over. Maybe check the power with a volt meter.
