Would a 2009 Vibe radio unit fit in a 2005 Vibe? And another question radio-related

Post by Eloi »

One of my buddies just bought a 2005 Vibe (he's loving it so far) but his radio is broken. I was thinking of selling him my own radio and get an aftermarket one myself (with more functions like a USB port). Would my radio fit in his 2005 Vibe? Would he need a plate adapter? How much is a 2009 radio worth (base model, no SAT, no MP3) when it' still working great? On the same topic, the big base Vibe 2009 radio must be a "double din" one? If I buy an aftermarket double din one, would I still need to get a plate adapter or something similar? Thanks.

The dash cutout on a 2009 is oddly shaped at each corner. This is why I would doubt a '09 radio would fit a pre-gen Vibe. This is also why you need an adapter bracket when installing after market single din and double din head units in the '09+ Vibes

The '09 Vibe's radio is definitely not "feature rich". Plus, theres the prone Volume/Tune knob being broken. Also, the interior lights wouldn't match! Probably not important but that would drive me nuts. The insides of our cars are orange lit. Except the gauges which are white/red. This drives me nuts.

Nope the 2009-2010 radio will not fit the 2003-2008 Vibe. The radios and the radio holes are different. Your friend might as well go and get an aftermarket radio. The 2003-2008 and the 2009 to 2010 radios are nothing to write home about.
