Rear Tail Lamps

Post by 09vGT »

As we all know, in all kinds of cars, as the plastic gets old and oxidizes, it turned frosty; which is unattractive. Us 09-10 owners have the clear rear lenses too, 'reckon these will turn with time too? I don't guess anyone can tell for sure, but just a thought. Might be LOTS of headlamp restoration kits in the future!

Whenever I wax the paint on the Vibe, I also wax the headlights, fog lights and taillights. So far it seems to be working as they still look brand new. I did this on my Sunfires too and it seemed to work well on them also.

I heard that using carnauba wax helps keep them from hazing over. You can also buy UV protectant that you can spray on the headlights/tail lights.

Teflon coating, like 303 (best stuff ever) works best. Wax is a double edged sword. It makes it look nice, but also helps in causing them to discolor over time. Never add wax to unpainted plastic. Trust me...

Trust me...This goes for the plastic cladding for sure. In summer 2008 a friend surprised me by detailing my car when I was on holidays.. my back bumper cover still has some discoloring.

Yup, plastic cladding is waht most people try it on. A better solution is actually... creamy peanut butter, or a heat gun.
