Hi vibe owners!I have another question that might have been answered (I haven't searched )Is it possible to take the front bumper off the GT models and direct replace onto my Base model? The only reason I want to do this upgrade is the grille inserts as well as the fog lights (I really want fog lights on my base model.. but it looks like it would have to be a complete front end swap)
Don't see why not, but you might want to see about the sideskirts and rear bumper as well so everything matches! You can get fog lights for the base model. All the wiring is there, you just need to add a relay, stalk, and lights!
You don't need a whole new front end. Ponta put fogs on her Vibe, and just needed the new inserts. I don't see why you couldn't put a GT bumper on your base, other than that it could look a little awkward considering the GT body kit is lower than the base body goes. (Use the door accent as a reference point for height)
I guess you guys are right, it might look a little funky!I've searched everywhere for fog light inserts, even on GM OEM part websites. All I find are the lamps that look like this :I could see purchasing that.. but then I have nothing to mount them too aswell as no shroud surround to put around them. What I guess I should be looking for is this :but when I visit the site for sale all I can find is the same thing as the first picture I posted. Can you guys direct me towards a place to get the whole insert? Surround + fog light included, thanks!
Nevermind guys! I found a dealership in Georgia that sells OEM GM parts. They want $13 per fog light cover/fascia with a chrome hole in it ($40 after shipping)and then $125 per fog light (which I could probably get cheaper somewhere else)I think I might just go this route! I don't need the stalk or relay harness because I will just direct wire the fog lights into my low beams.. so whenever my low beams are on my fog lights will always be on
Okay guys, sorry to keep bumping this thread LOL!One last thing : I have ordered the LHD & RHD front fog light surrounds w/ black and chrome. I didn't however order the lamps to go in them. The price was just a little too steep for me (107 a piece.)So my plan is go put the chrome & black surrounds into my bumper, and either leave the hole where the lamp should go OPEN, or put some sort of black rubber piece to cover the hole.I doubt I will get the lamps anytime soon, unless I can find a cheaper alternative/style lamp.
Here's a great thread about adding factory fog lights to your 09-10 Base.GMPartsCenter.net has the Base fog light assemblies for $91.09 a piece. They offer free shipping, but charge a $7.99 handling fee.Personally, if I were going to install fog lights on a Base, I would get the stalk and all the other necessary parts to hook it up just like it would have come from the factory. Just my $.02 though.

It's all wired up to accept the stalk, lights, etc. without too much craziness. It will probably be less headache to just spend the money on the proper factory parts.

This appears to be the stalk with the fog lights, turn signals, and headlight all included. Don't take my word that its the fog light stalk, but based on their other items they carry.. this is for models WITH fog lights.http://parts.nalleygmc.com/pro....html

I have the fog light surrounds already. That said, if I ever damage the bumper enough to replace it, I will change it out for a GT bumper cover. Looks to me like it would fit w/o any modification. I don't think it would look strange at all.

I found a place that had a slightly used left fog lamp, left fog lamp cover, and the blinker arm/stalk. I got all 3 of the pieces for $90 bux (i thought that was a good deal). I will grab the part number off the blinker arm when I get it and post it up so people can reference back.I was thinking about doing a "how-to" on installing the fog lamps since it seems there is a lot of interest in doing this to the '09 base models. More to come on this when i get all of the parts rounded up. I know SpeedEng did something similar which is really helpful. I am looking to do something similar but completely OEM.
Can anyone tell me if the 07-09 Camry fog lights fit our housings? They are so much more cheaper and there are aftermarket units for even less.It appears to be the same (note: in the picture, the fog housings are turned sideways)
Those look slightly different than the ones for the vibe. maybe it is just the photo though. the mounting looks the same but the lens is what is throwing me off

Heck for $40 including shipping.. I get the fog light housings + wiring harness + camry fog light surrounds (Which I won't need)Here is waht I ordered.. looks pretty similar to the pair you have.

I still need to order the right front fog light for my vibe and it would be nice to know that i have these as an option.I can now confirm that these work great! The fitment is perfect. So it looks like your choices are the newer models of : Camry, Matrix, Carolla, Rav-4, and probably a lot morePics soon!
That's good! Also interesting to know, the door handles off most Toyotas and thus the Vibe are interchangeable. The HVAC controls are the same in the Vibe as the Corollas, and I expect that most under-dash, in door and under-body parts are shared, as to help reduce cost. The stalks, rear-view mirror and sunroof controls are also Toyota parts-bin parts. All of this is good to know because if you need a handle, the Vibe and Corolla one is more expensive than the Rav4 one for the same part.
Related question: I need to have the front lower grill replaced on my 2009 AWD Vibe. Does anyone know if the front lower grill from a GT model will fit right into the same spot (without otherwise changing out the entire lower front bumper) ? ? I like the looks of the GT one better .. but only if it is going to fit! Thanks!Dave

Looking at the picture below, it appears the GT lower grille is slightly larger then the AWD/Base lower grille. Also, even if they did happen to be the same size, I'm betting the mounting points for the grilles would be completely different given the vast difference in the design of the bumper covers. If you want I can measure the grille on my GT to make sure ...

Hey, good lookin fleet there! Nice that the faster RED ones are out in front. Thanks for looking into this. I'll see what the body shop folks come up with and may just need to stay with the AWD one. As you can see from the pic actually, they are not visually that much different anyway I guess. Thanks!Dave
I would think about retrofitting some regular old diamond mesh - that would actually echo the front grille much better than the original lower slatted grille.

That was all the 2009 Vibes that were at the Indy Meet July of 2010. There were 2 silver GTs, 3 red GTs and 1 red Base. It was such an awesome weekend !Here are closeups of the two grilles:2009 - 2010 AWD/Base:2009 - 2010 GT:The GT grille matches the upper grilles exactly, whereas the AWD/Base grille has "lines".
