Moon and Tunes upgrade

Post by NiceWubsVibe »

I recently purchased an '04 Vibe and was looking to pick up a moon and tunes piece and maybe upgrading the sub. im guessing it would be very easy to throw in a harder-hitting 8" sub (due to the fact its the same size as the factory sub) would it be possible to modify the factory casing to house a 10"

The factory sub is actually a 6.5. I've placed and aftermarket 6.5 in the factory sub housing and IIRC, you could possibly fabricate it enough to fit an 8 if it's a shallow mount (very skeptical though), but I seriously doubt you'll be able to fit a 10 into the factory housing.

You did this? Got any pics? I still have my stock sub box retrofit waiting for me to finish it.

I don't have any but I plan on tearing into the Vibe this weekend and will try to remember to take some.

You could always just make your own 10" sub box. You can even make it form fitting to fill the same space where that moon and tunes box would go

Like bigdaddyjosh said, you could make your own where the factory moon & tunes would go. This is what the head installer at my work did in a first gen Matrix and what I did on the other side in my '09 Vibe 'Although I plan on building a new box on the passenger side, for a 10" sub because the 8" doesn't hit hard enough for me

I made one for a 10" sub. It came out decent. I could have done a better job on the bondo before I painted it though. I can always sand it an smooth out the bondo and repaint it. I documented the whole build on the forums here. Take a look and see if it is something you would want to persue.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=43985
