The buttons on my stereo are mostly all scratched or faded off, and I'd like to get an aux-in jack, so I'm thinking about getting a newer car stereo. The only problem is that every one I've seen is hideous. Have you guys found any that actually look semi-stock? Pics of what you're currently using would also be great.
The one in this thread isn't bad for something simple:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=33998I like mine in my sig link below, for the ease of no CDs and red and chrome accents match well. Really depends what you are looking for, lots of options!
I have an Alpine CDA-105. Don't think you can find it anymore, just recently was discontinued, but similar CDA or CDE models still exist. It has blue buttons but you can change the illumination of those to red. The text in the center is white which matches the instrument cluster. The CDA-105 didn't have an aux-in jack but other models do. If ipod functionality is also something you might want, Alpine is the best. Other manufacturers ipod menu controls aren't as easy to navigate. Maybe look for something that will allow you to change the illumination to match the interior lighting.
Thanks for the suggestions. That JVC KW-XG500 isn't too bad, but it's a bit out of my price range and seems to be getting hard to find.I did come across this one that looks okay.http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_...C-108It's only around $70 too. Still wish I could find something that actually looks like it could be stock though. I'm an Android user, so iPod compatibility means nothing to me, but I definitely want an aux-in line.
Yeah I was also going to mention Kenwood. Alot of their units, especially the lower priced ones are red w/ white text. I understand the aux out. I'm also an Android user and had to buy a special adapter for the aux out on my HU so I can use Pandora. I have a 120GB iPod I keep in my car that has my entire music collection on it. Well I hope that one works out for ya.
I just read through the reviews for this Kenwood on crutchfield.com. One of the reviewers used it in his Toyota Matrix, and another used it in his '05 Vibe. The Matrix guy specifically commented on how well it matched the interior. I guess that settles it.
the Jensen unit i got looks pretty great with the rest of the interior. i couldn't deal with one of those annoying screens like the pioneer ones at walmart.
If you want to keep your factory radio or get a replacement Vibe factory radio and want an AUX in then look at this producthttp://www.pac-audio.com/produ...ID=45On the back of your radio is an unused connector you hook this device to and then run your aux cable out to where you want to put it.If you want both AUX and iPod capabilities then look at thishttp://usaspec.com/product.php?ProductID=24The Peripheral is great. I have the iPod one in my other car and it works great. they don't make one for my 2009 Vibe(which is my only regret buying the Vibe) I have a USA Spec for my Vibe and it is a nice device but not as nice as the other one. But since you are only looking for aux use then they both work the same They can be found cheaper on eBay and allow you to retain the factory look if all you want is AUX. This way your system looks factory and anybody looking in your car sees only a factory radio
I considered getting one of those, but since I would still have to replace the factory radio as well, it will be much cheaper to get a whole new unit that comes with the aux-in.So I did end up ordering the Kenwood KDC-108. I guess I'll find out soon just how well it does match.
That does look nice! I also have a Kenwood but mine is much glossier. It still matches the interior nicely, since it has the customizable colors, but the big screen kind of interrupts the red interior lighting. Oh well, I like it!I thought about painting the dash kit with some glossy black paint and a coat of sealer to better match the glossy qualities of the receiver. I never bothered because I didn't want to make it look too cheap. I'm not losing sleep over having not done it.
