Suddenly not liking first gear...
Hi,I have an '05 Vibe 5-speed manual that has run fine so far (knocking on wood), but over the past couple of weeks I've started having a problem with first gear. It doesn't want to go into first easily and when in first pulling away from a stop I have to rev way too high or it shudders and nearly stalls. Any ideas?Thanks!

Is it just: Sitting at a light in neutral, push the clutch, shift and grind?

Not always. Sometimes from neutral it will, but other times, as long as I'm under 5 mph it will slip into 1st. Even slightly above 5mph and it will grind.

Lots of cars do that, mine does sometimes as well. Have you tried double-clutching?Ever change the transmission fluid?

sounds like the Honda like Symptoms.. broken clutch spring, need to roll and shift..It is a good practice to not row your stick without the engine is running the the the clutch is fully engaged.If you experiencing the stick is stiffen up a lot while rowing you might need to check your clutch springs..
