I have a 2007 vibe. Currently headlights, tail lights, signal, radio, inverter, fan, instruments (fuel, speed, tach etc) all not working. What is working... car runs, seatbelt light, interior light, hazard lights, hornI have checked all fuses (under hood and under driver side panel) all good. I have also checked relays..mechanical switching is working. I have yet to check continuityI will tomorrow.. I have also checked battery...good and posts..goodI am thinking there is a module that controls this group of electrical needs????Looking for guidance?ThanksG

A newer car isn't so simple. Are both high and low beams out? Most of these items you list are controlled by different fuses and relays. The left headlight is independent of the Right headlamp!!Believe it or not a lot of these common electronics pass through and are controlled to a degree by the ECM (electronic control module). There is a fault code P0504. If you have a scan tool, see if you pull a code. If you don't have a scan tool and don't have any money, a simple, cheap and harmless way to reset the ECM is to pull the battery cable (-) off of the battery for 15 - 20 minutes (less will work but I am a tad (removed)) and then rehook it to the battery. You WILL loose all your radio presets so know how to reset your radio and if you have an electronic theft control radio that needs a code, know what it is and how to use it.See if by doing this everything is restored. Let us know. There are fusible links but hey rarely burn out.IF it doesn't work, reply with detailed items not working, low beam, high beam, left, right, brakes, turn signals, horn, 4 way flashers, dash lights, all lights on dash (warning start up test) etc. You've got 4 fuse / relay boxes on this car, the wiring is complex (though not nearly so as an Audi A-8!! )Good LuckBTW, did you get the ECU recall done yet?? IF it is the ECU, you could have a very cheap fix on your hands!! They are FREE!!!!!Dave
See if your BCM (Body Control Module) is crapping out. The BCM controls most if not all of that stuff you are having issues with. This module is different then the main computer (PCM) however if it is totally toast the car will not start.I worked at a Chevy dealer while going to college and Impala's would always be towed in due to faulty BCM'sIf not then it is time to bust out the wire diagram and see if all those components have a common groundGood luck
My bet is on the 100A ALT fuse, screwed into the under hood fuse block. You did not offer any insight into what circumstances led up to having so many things stop working on the car. A few people have here had their 100A fuse blow, So far that's been either crossing cables during a jump start or shorting out a wire while changing out an alternator. Doesn't have to be limited to that, but nobody has had one spontaneously blow for no cause.Welcome to genvibe.
I really appreciate the guidance. A couple items of progress. I have unhooked the battery for 1 hour and no change. I have also done more probing into the cause.... as this was post teenager "Dad the car is broken" Apparently the car was jumped and he saw sparks...cables reversed. He then located three fuses that were blown and replaced them and drove the car home.....So now I have the cause. I have re checked all fuses and relays I know of... under hood in panel and under steering column. I will check the 100A fuse, although I am not sure of exact location. The only thing working is four way flashers, horn, seatbelt light and door open light. The car itself runs fine.It sounds like there are many other fuses other then what I have checked so if you have some specfic location that may help.Again well done with the advice...G
The 100A fuse is in the under hood fuse block by the air filter. In this picture, it's the blue box circled in yellow. Doesn't look like a normal fuse. Yours probably has a clear plastic cover on it. Mine has been missing that cover since http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=16307 but johnsoax figured it out first. In that thread, he found that the 100A fuse is bolted on to the fuse block, and to get to it he said " You have to take off the entire bottom of the fuse block, which means that you have to take out the battery, and the air box." (That was about 6 years ago, I haven't messed with it since, have never actually needed to replace mine)
