I got 26.4 mpg on the way home with it. (scan gauge)Vibe will get low 30's without. It has AWD too! Love it.The Vibe is wife's car, I been driving a crap box geo meto 4cyl that gets about the same mileage as her vibe!The wife and me were out working on the new teardrop camper this evening and I told her I'm still not totally convinced about taking the new rig on our planed trip to Alaska. We also have a truck camper that we love and use all the time. OK, hears my reasons: ! We would have to pack very light with the new rig, 2. There is no room to change clothes, cant stand up in it. 3. Truck camper is proven to us, don't want to take a large trip with a unknown rig. 4. The Vibe would save us probably $1000 in fuel, but I think we would be a LOT more comfortable in the truck camper. How many chances do you get to go to Alaska? She agreed! Still not sure..... Waiting on passport and stuff, so we still have time to decide.

Does it have any kind of support legs? or do you just put wheel chucks under it? Trailers without support legs give me the willies. I'm afraid they'll tip. I've seen small trailers get tipped at campgrounds from being improperly set. (although, a couple of cheap 2-ton jacks from Harbor Freight might do the job...)

I was driving on 69 the other day (Indiana interstate that Zig probably knows) and noticed a trailer hauling 3 or 4 of those. That it was rather interesting since I had never seen one till this thread and then BAM there's a trailer of them.

I looked at some this weekend and I might be sold, too. I've been shopping for pop-ups but these are even lighter and seem to be a well made substitute for a tent. If I get one, I'll post a photo here.

I just looked at one of these trailers today at a local dealer in Wichita, KS. Seem to be of good quality.My dad is selling his teardrop type camper called a "Trailorboat" built in the 60's. Here is the ebay ID, ends in 2 days: 190315409658I'd buy it & keep it for myself, but my wife is disabled and wouldn't be able to get in & out like I can. It only weighs 485 lbs and can easily be towed by the Vibe which can tow 1500. And yes, the bed is quite comfortable and can sleep two full size adults if you are under 7' tall.

Here's the (POS) tent trailer I've got. '74 Parklane... It does the task, nothing more. But for $200, it was the right price. Thit pic was taken in November just north of Cranbrook BC. Space heater and DIY insulation worked very well for the 6 weeks I was out there (college course, apprenticeship). $500/month to camp or $1000 for the worst 1/2 star motel sleazy cockroaches wouldn't stay in... Hard choice!The Sunfire tows it without issue and eventhough it has more hp and tq then the Vibe, the Vibe doesn't have as high of gearing as the Sunfire. And when I get the trailer hitch for the Vibe, we shall see (fingers crossed)!

It's a lot better than the tent I usually use and worst case I "lease" it for a year and sell it used. They don't depreciate much. I was seeing used 2007s listed for only $700 less than a brand new one.

I think one painted up like my Subie, with semi-matching wheels, would be sick... It would be perfect to take to shows, so if I decided I wanted to drink, i'd easily have a place to stay.. !!!

Well, at the dealer they showed me this space-age aluminum-cell insulation that goes into the roof (as upposed to old-fashioned fiberglass). If you're in the middle of nowhere, just open up the doors and windows and close the screens. If you've got the luxury of power, then pick up an air conditioner.... besides, you're camping and unless there's a downpour, get out and do something! (If it is raining then you've already planned for this by buying a small bar fridge and stocking it with beer!)

Part of the nice thing about camping is hearing the crickets and owls and stuff and listening to the wind in the pines. You can't hear that with the a/c running. The unit does have a nice vent fan that runs off a deep-cycle battery that's charged by the car when you're driving. The a/c is good if you're just stopping off in the wal mart parking lot or at a truck stop on your way to or from somewhere. Heat is nice because it makes off-season camping easier.

Well, We just got back from our little vacation with the Little Guy Camper and the Vibe. Three weeks to Alaska! No kidding! Some numbers:Total miles driven 8905.2Total cost for gas $1,289.33 (US and Canadian dollars)26mpgTotal 6 nights boondockingTotal 12 nights campgroundsFood was kind of expensive in Canada and Alaska. We ate out most of the time, just not enough time to cook. When we stopped at local restaurants it cost near $40 to eat. Campground were mid $25 range, I did not feel too bad about. 8 hour boat tour was not to bad either,... $240.00 for the both of us. No flats tires, we did get a small chip in the windshield. We did pay for WiFi several nights. Campgrounds had codes for WiFi and codes to use bathrooms. We had only one pay shower. $2.25 for 6 mins. at Dawson City.SantaLand Campground (North Pole) had a free city tour, free car/camper wash, free WiFi, Free showers, nice! Millers Landing Campground (Seward Alaska) we had to share our electricity, run a long extension cord, Campsite was dirt, (mud) bathrooms were the pits, had to pay $20.00 for WiFi.We could have stayed a few more days in Alaska, but really felt we had seen the highlights and was ready to start back. Done Alaska highway, Dawson City, Top of the World highway, Chicken Alaska, Tok, Seward and a wildlife boat tour, Anchorage twice, Denali National Park as much as they will let you see, without riding their buses. Fairbanks, Fairbanks Arctic Cam, The North Pole, Alaska. Got to see a lot of the pipeline. Valdez, Bear, coyote, Moose, Whales, glaciers, snow caped mountains, some ruff roads, a lot of really nice people.Gas stations are not what we normally think of them around here. 30, 40 year old pumps stuck in the middle of nowhere are still gas stations. You will have to use them because they are the only pumps around. Just a little different way of doing things I really wanted to pick up a case of Diet Mt. Dew, but seemed no one sold any. I had to start drinking coffee to get my Caffeine.I think somebody needs to build a "Welcome to Alaska" place at the Alaska highway border. Something big,... nice,... flags waving,... all lite up. Sounds awesome. The gas mileage is pretty impressive too. How did the braking and hill climbing work? FWIW, I also ordered a little guy. I can't wait to try it out. Delivery is running a little late but I should be picking it up within the week. I got a slightly larger one than you did, I think. It weighs about 150 lbs more. Will report on the performance.
