Hello Vibe people ! I never knew there was a website for Vibes .I bought a slightly used 04 Vibe for my wife in 05 .It now has 218000 kms. on it and has been a great car .Up till now the only thing that I've replaced(besides tires and front brakes ) are the front wheel bearings .Recently something in the dashboard started making noise . I figured out that it is the blend door actuator . I removed the radio and assorted dash panels , replaced the automatic trans. shifter light bulb , went to install the radio , and wondered where the second radio wiring harness plug went . There are 2 holes in the back of the radio for wires , but I can only find 1 harness .I can't remember if there was 2 . Anyway , I put it all together and the radio works , but now half the radio dial isn't lit up anymore . I'm guessing that a bulb in the radio must have failed with all the handling and jostling of the radio . Any second opinions ?Oh, and after working on the car for about 20 mins. with the door open , I tried to start the car , and it just barely started . So I figured after 7 years my Vibe deserved a new battery . I did a battery load test first of course . It was time for a new battery .
The second harness was for an optional CD changer so it would be not there if you don't have this item. It also functions as where to hook up a aftermarket iPod adaptorAs for the lights, those things die if you look at them hard enough so you will need to replace them. There is a great how to here at the forum
I always wondered what that extra plug was for. I had it plugged in then with the new radio it just sits loose in the dash. I didn't have a changer though so could it be for something else?
