I've got a reese hitch on mine. It's only rated for 1200lbs towing though and it sounds like you may be towing more than that. Reese normally has a good selection but the hitches for the vibe and matrix are strangely no longer shown on their site...i bought the hitch and trailer light connecter kit for around $170 (up here in Canada). There are probably companies with better selection down in the states.

The empty trailer, yes. But it won't take much to exceed the weight limit! It takes very little tools and such to add an extra 500 lbs. And the fact that you're lowered will mean a minor speed bump or pothole and you'll find yourself grinding and dragging the rear end!

Trailer is too heavy if you want to put all those supplies in it.... Also, like Star mentioned, you are lowered... Not a good idea

Definitely get a transmission cooler. That really should help just generally with towing. You could remove weight from the car, or put some of the things you'd have in the trailer in the Vibe or on the roof rack. My worry would be with the transmission, that the gears would get overloaded and you'd ruin the transmission. Oh, and also, don't use overdrive when pulling. That is a quick way to kill your transmission.

Just my 2 cents.. Towing a few extra pounds will not hurt the body of the car but the engine lacks thetorq to pull much more than 1500#s. The trans will not like it much either. But I think your real problem will be tongue weight on the hitch if you go over twohundred pounds you might just pull the hitch off your car with our roads (Holes Surrounded with the Occasional Flat Spot). With all that aside the brakes are not going to stop your car very well at speed they are just to small for all that extra weight.IMO>> You might be better off geting a aluminumtrailer a 500#s or less letting you fill it more weight...GOOD LUCK
