my vibe is at the dealer w/ a check engine light on and b/c it wont rev past 3000rpms.....now the dealer is trying to tell me that when the car is in neutral it wont rev past 3000rpms......i know this is wrong....how many of you while at a standstill in not in gear can rev past 3000rpms???my dealer knows nothing and this infuriates me!i have had to tell them how much oil to put in my car!!why cant my warranty apply at toyota dealerships!

Dude that sucks! I know my Vibe revs all happy like in any position! I would suggest talk to the owner, or trying a different dealership. If you really don't have a choice of dealerships, after talking to the owner call GM!
Morons....it was an easy fix...i dont know what they did but i get the feeling it took about 3 seconds w/ a diagnostic-computer....but the dufus service manager still told me (when i picked it up) that it wont go past 3000 b/c it has a rev limiter....so the porter pulls it up and before i move into gear i gave it some and poof....it revs all the way...so i got out and let the service guy know that once again i was right and my dealership was wrong....this is getting really old!

damn, dealers really dont know anything compaired to a true enthusiest. i was at a dealership today and the dealer was trying to tell me that the AWD has 180 HP and i told him he was wrong and he wouldnt back down, he was *sure* that it did. what a moron i told him it has less than the base vibe, the awd has 123 hp if im not mistakenand the 04 possibly has 130? is that correct? dealers think that they know the facts, when in fact they do not. dealers should have to go some type of yearly training so they actually know the correct information about the vehicles they are selling
Dude..........I really, really agree with you and I have posted the same complaint many times on this board, It would be in the best interests of GM, to really, really send some tyope of bulletins to these "Mechanic" dudes at dealerships........If this continues, despite getting a very good car for the Money, GM(Pontiac) service is way worse then ford at this time.....at least in my area......It pees me off when I walk in toyota and talk to the mechanic and they now these engines pretty good.
I think when I call Jeff next week I'm going to mention to him way too many people are having issues with their dealers...they should really be aware of this higher up...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Raging fish, I know for sure these guys here in the Montreal area........are not up to par, or perhaps this is done deliberatly to try milk us out out of any extra cash.aside from the warranty
quote:damn, dealers really dont know anything There was thread here where a genvibe member had to teach Pontiac to read the owner's manual to learn how much oil to use in an oil change. If that's characteristic of what they know about the car, then we're in trouble.

I had a 99 Pontiac Grand Am and receive horrible customer service from my local dealers. That was one of the main reasons I chose the Matrix over the Vibe.
There used to be more posts in this thread, and when it popped back into the "active posts" last night, the thread list said mine was the last post on 8/7, but the last post in the thread was mine from 8/4. I assumed that some one had taken deliverate action to remove several posts from the end of this thred, including one of mine that was witty, poignant, true Pullitzer material. So, figuring that my post had precipitated a discussion that needed to be moderated away, I editted it to avoid going down the same path again, but was letting whoever pruned the thread know that I noticed.Sometimes you can see moderation evidence when a thread is listed in the active thread list but doesn't have a member name in the Date column for the author of the last post in that thread. I've seen this a couple of times, but only once had I actually read the offending post before it was moderated away. It was hilarious, and truly offensive. I've glad stuff like that is dealt with by you moderators. So, sorry to have steered this thread off topic. Wasn't the Geo/Chevy Prizm really a Toyota Corolla? I wonder if Chevy had growing pains supporting that model like Pontiac seems to be having with the Vibe.

When a thread is moved, it will become newly active and update the active time in the Active Posts list. It would look like someone posted a reply but when you go to look in the thread, nothing is new.quote:I assumed that some one had taken deliverate action to remove several posts from the end of this thred, including one of mine that was witty, poignant, true Pullitzer material.Nope, no moderator, including myself, removed any posts from this thread. It could have been a member posted to the thread themselves, then decided to remove it shortly thereafter.quote:Sometimes you can see moderation evidence when a thread is listed in the active thread list but doesn't have a member name in the Date column for the author of the last post in that thread. That would mean the last post in the thread was deleted and would cause the member name to be empty in the Active Posts list until someone posted again.quote:So, sorry to have steered this thread off topic.*steers back onto the road*
Nick, thanks for the info, I must have been spending too much time at the dealer's, (thread title). I would have sworn, but accept that I was wrong. So, GM has had experience supporting a Toyota based model for some time. I realize that there are many things about the Vibe that make it different from anything Pontiac has had to support in the past, but if GM has gone through this before, then maybe there were some lessons that weren't learned.
