42,000 Miles Now, What Maintenance Should Be Done

Post by parentd328 »

I have a 2009 Vibe( manual transmission, 4cyl ) with 42,0000 miles on it. I've been changing the oil, rotating tires, replacing air filter as specified in the owners manual but when should the following be done. I live in Michigan so I get all the nice cold weather extremes 1) Radiator flush. Should this be done now if not, when ? I didn't see anything in the owner's manual. Is this even necessary ?2) Spark Plug / Wire change ? Talking with other friends, this should be done around 100K. I would think changing them now would be a good idea.3) Manual transmission fluid change ?Any other things I should consider doing now. Ready to get tires this fall. I cannot believe the OEM tires lasted this long

Should this be done now if not, when ? I didn't see anything in the owner's manual. Is this even necessary ?It is, but perhaps not yet. You shouldn't have to worry about this for a bit longer. Maybe in the late fall or early spring, based on the miles you seem to be driving.2) Spark Plug / Wire change ? Talking with other friends, this should be done around 100K. I would think changing them now would be a good idea. You've got awhile. 3) Manual transmission fluid change ?Automatic for me, but the dipstick was black as night (not cherry red) at only 38,000 miles, so I had mine changed. Might want to look into that soon, given that it's manual, but maybe someone else can chime in on this.Any other things I should consider doing now. Ready to get tires this fall. I cannot believe the OEM tires lasted this long I was actually disappointed to have to buy new tires at 40k with frequent rotating. But it is what it is. I have better ones than the Goodyear RS-As my 2006 originally came with, so it's all good.Keep up the good work on maintaining your Vibe yourself. It'll last you a good long while.

Now is a good time for this, just remember to use a GL-4 fluid!Any other things I should consider doing now. Get winter tires!!!
