so... turn the key, clutch pushed all the way in, hear fuel pump run, but don't hear starter run. replaced the battery cause it's old and needed it anyways, nothing. removed the starter and had it tested at o'reillys, still good. replaced the starter relay, still nothing. checked all the fuses, no blown fuses. checked all the little switches, they're still good.so what i see this leading to is the ignition switch. i went through the diagram for the starter system, checked everything, and this is what it leads to. any clue?!?
Can you bump start it? The starter might be stuck in the flywheel or the brushes may be at the end of their life span which a whack with a hammer may prove. Also try holding the clutch switch with your hand. It might have moved slightly and the clutch pedal may not be touching it properly.
Yeah, tapping it verifieid that the starter was bad for me....It worked SOMETIMES, but other times...nothing.Maybe it was a fluke that it tested good?Have someone hold the key in the START position and while you tap on the starter with something (hammer, ratchet, wrench...whatever)...see if it starts
yeah, that's what it is. i had it out and was lookin at it, then put it back in and this morning it started right up.... gotta go get a new starter now.
