Offical Recall letters sent

Post by NascarXprt »

I just recieved my letter stating that my current vibe does fall under the recall and that the part is now availble to be replaced. total time to repair the PCM is roughly 45 min thats is a 15 min inspection of the PCM and another 25-30min replacement time. it also includes a reimbursement form if you have already had this service done and paid out of pocket.Quote »Dear _____________:This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.Recently you may have received a letter regarding this recall but this letter is to inform you that parts are now available to repair your vehicle, if required. The Pontiac Vibe was engineered and designed by Toyota and built by New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI), a joint venture between Toyota and GM.Toyota has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2006 (may be a different year stated on other letters) model year Pontiac Vibe vehicles equipped with a 1.8L MFI engine and two-wheel drive transmission. As a result, GM is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for this inconvenience. However, we are concerned about your safety and continued satisfaction with our products.a box labeled IMPORTANT will have your Vibe's information here, Year, VIN, and recall number and will state to set up an appointment at your nearest GM dealer and states that it is a no charge serviceWhy is your vehicle being recalled? The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on your vehicle may have been improperly manufactured and include components that can fail prematurely. In most cases, the engine warning lamp could be illuminated, harsh transmission shifting could result, the engine may stall, or the engine may not start. In limited instances, the engine could stall while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash. What will we do?Your nearest General Motors dealer will inspect the production number of the PCM in your vehicle and, if necessary, replace it. this service will be performed for you at no charge. Because of service scheduling requirements, it is likely that your dealer will need your vehicle no longer than the actual inspection time of 15 minutes. If the PCM requires replacement, an additional 25 minutes will be required. What should you do?You should contact your GM dealer to arrange a service appointment as soon as possible.Did you already pay for this repair? The enclosed form explains what reimbursement is available and how to request reimbursement if you have paid for repairs for the recall condition.Do you have questions? If you have questions or concerns that your dealer is unable to resolve, please contact the Pontiac Customer Assistance center at 1.800.620.7668 (TTY 1.800.833.7668).
