2004 Vibe photos / Fusion Orange Metallic / Lower Rocker Molding

Post by NSimkins »

Stopped out at a few dealers today and snapped some pics of the new 2004 Fusion Orange Metallic color as well as the modified lower rocker molding. In my opinion, this new color looks good.. better in person. Enjoy the pics.

Here is a closeup of the new lower rocker molding on a two-tone. I noticed that no '04 Monotones had this modification.

And a further closeup. It looks like this addition may be able to be purchased and replaced on existing '03 models for added protection. I tried to look behind the extension and it looks like the '03 style rounded molding is underneath. Either way, I'm sure it's possible. This also makes the vehicle look lower to the ground as well, as you can see in the pics. Somewhat resembles the lower molding additions from the Sport Package.

It looks like both Pontiac dealers I visited today had equal '04 stock on their lots. I would say each had roughly between 9-12 available. This photo comes from Youngstown Buick Pontiac in Boardman, OH. They had their '04 stock locked up so I could only get a far shot, but they had about 1/2 monotone and 1/2 two-tone available.

This photo is from Jim Pace Pontiac in Niles, OH. They only had two-tone base Vibe's in stock (about 8)... pretty much barebone as well. Also, out of all the '04s I could check out, none of them had the XM radio option installed.

Also, finally got to see an actual sticker from an '04. Nothing much changed, but here it is. The image is a little large so it can be readable.

Those are awesome photos Nick! The fusion orange looks great. I don't think I've ever seen that many vibes in one spot (in person) before!

The molding appears to be a different color than the cladding. I'd like to see the molding on a Monotone GT! Good find!

Not to say that it isn't a unique colour, but I don't think I would go out and buy the Vibe in that colour. I like my Salsa just the way it is.

Great job Nick!It wasn't obvious from the earlier pictures how much farther out these new rocker moldings are. Too bad they don't seem to be available on the monotone models.Although they'll no doubt help I still think the mud flaps are a wise choice to install.I only saw four 2004 Vibe's at dealerships I visited in Saint Louis this weekend and didn't see a single two-tone 2004.

I just stopped by the dealership to get an appointment setup for fixing my door dings and by chance they had quite a few (5+) '04 Vibes on the lot! One of them was even the Fusion Orange color - damn that's really sweet.I also took a good close look at the '04 moldings, and I really really really like how they look. I am curious, though: Will Pontiac be redesigning the mud guards for '04 as well to go with the changed shape of the lowers? I think it would be possible to shave the '03 guards to work with the '04 rockers - if it needs to be done.Anyone have any info on it? I am seriously considering saving up for these rockers if they will fit right :D

The new moldings just fit the sides on the rocker panels. As for the flaps, they're a factory accessory, molded mudflaps. Somewhere on the site there's a part number listed (the search feature should uncover it).

Great post and great pics, Thanx Nick... one of the many reasons why I'm a proud member of genvibe.com and why I have a Vibe as well. I REALLY like the new rocker molding, since I have an '03 two tone Vibe. I think they will help with the "sandblasting" on the front of the rear wheel well on the cladding of the two tones. There is a whole post about this and a lot of two tone owners are not happy campers about it... if you get my drift (me being one of them). Maybe with the addition of these (no idea on prices yet I'm sure?) and mudflaps, that issue will be solved. Hope to hear more on it soon. Thanx again Nick!

Finally saw one of the new orange vibes on a dealer lot the other day, I LOVE the color! It looks much better in person I think, it's more gold than orange. Too bad they didn't have that color last year when I bought mine. Although I'm very happy with my salsa vibe (when it's clean and shiny, which isn't very often!)

Hi guys, I'm new here although I have been reading many of your posts over the last few months as I made up mind to pursue a Vibe. It was great to get an 'inside' point of view from the current owners so I could ask more questions at the dealership.I'm posting this to say, that I'm picking up my new Vibe tonight and to go along with this disscussion topic, the color is Monotone Fusion. I have yet to actually see the car itself as the dealer only had a two-tone fusion (which it self looks pretty nice). And when I do see it tonight, it will also have tinted windows. I'm expecting it to look SHARP!To give a bit of back ground on this, I've actually been trying to get a Vibe for the last 3.5 months, and already struck out 3 times. I was originaly wanting a Monotone Neptune, but I kept missing out either due to bad timing, or just out of stock. So a 2004 was ordered from the manufacture, only not due until later in October. My daily driver (Toyota Camry, which was going to be traded anyway) decided to blow her brake lines (fixing that just to still get it to the dealership is a whole other story), so I went to the dealership to see what they had that I could get sooner (this was on Tuesday this week), and there I found the 2-tone Fusion, and liked to color, and was told they could get one in Monotone, and by today. Woohoo!!! Obviously, I said YES.So, forgive my rant, but I'm excited and just wanted to share that. If anyone is interested (as I'm sure you all might be), I'll try to get some pics taken for posting. Alright, back to work now.
