I have an 2008 Vibe that I brought used and it does not have Stabilitrak. I recently drove a 2010 Vibe that had Stabilitrak and notice that it handled much better than my car on steep gravel roads and was able to get up a steep driveway with snow that my 2008 couldn't handle. Is it possible to get StabilTrak for the 2008 installed if it didn't come with it off the factory line?
Anything can be done with enough money. In this case, I'm pretty sure it would cost less to buy a new Vibe with stabilitrak. I think stabilitrak is tied in with the ABS and traction control systems, so you would have to have these as well. And I'm sure sensors would have to be installed as well. I've never driven a VIBE without stabilitrak, as mine has it, but it never kicks on for me much, or hardly at all, unless I try and slide the car. Then 5 short beeps are heard. Its never kicked in on the paved road, unless I was sliding on snow. (Arkansas doesn't salt there roads).

I love my car and I hate the whole used car buying experience.Buy a new Matrix. My stabiltrak seems to kick in when going around a corner when there is snow/ice on the roadway. I just let up on the gas pedal. One of the reasons I replaced my '03 with the '09 was that year the standard equipment included for the first time stabiltrak, abs and 6 airbags. I am getting older and need all the help I can get. Also keep the OnStar for that reason.
