Vibration from low idle in 2006 Vibe Base?

Post by imanjuju »

Recently got a 2006 Vibe Base with 50,000 miles. Noticed alot of vibration when idling, more so when in reverse and rpm drops. Place I bought from suggest running 3 tanks of Chevon Supreme to clean up injectors but that didn't help.Anyone having or had these vibration issue, please share any solutions? Thanks.

Thanks. You may want to do a search for "idle vibration" in the forum... From what I red on the subject, these engines tend to be a bit cranky at low idle.I had the same issue with the 2007 Vibe I got late in May with 140K km on it.I assume that it had been sitting too long with an almost empty tank.I added a fuel injector treatment to my first full tank (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/G ... leaner.jsp) and the issue almost disappeared. Took two or three weeks tho.During that time. I had the Vibe inspected for any issues that I might have missed before buying it. I had the air filter changed at the time. Nothing else was done since I was a bit low on cash after getting the Vibe and wanted to do a full tune up later. You may have a dirty MAF sensor also. Search in the forums for a good howto cleanup. Mine was probably recently cleaned, I inspected it and it looked clean enough. For you it does not apply as 40K miles is a bit too soon to think about spark plugs that are supposed to last forever on those engines but I did mine recently (two weeks ago) while I had a coolant and tranny flush done as well as a normal engine oil/filter change. It may be a placebo effect but it feel like this the last maintenance I just outlined done about two weeks ago did eliminate the last remaining vibration I was getting at low idle.

Did a search for idle vibration and it does appear to be a common issue to Vibes. Could not find a specific solution that corrected the problem, seems a combination of process of elimination and trial and error attempts worked for some owners. Thanks for your feedback, will look into those. I've never heard of Motomaster Fuel Injector Cleaner. Will have to see if available in my area. The plugs are suppose to be good for 110,000 miles. I still have another 10,000 miles to go before changing the tranny fluid. Changing the tranny fluid was another suggestion from the place I got it but that doesn't make sense to me. All my previous cars never had issues with old tranny fluid affecting idle.

I'm just reporting what did it for me. I do think that a clean MAF sensor, air filter and injectors as well as spark plugs in good condition are the key elements for that issue. Except for the plugs, it does not cost much to fix each of those. It's certainly a starting point. Quote, originally posted by imanjuju »I've never heard of Motomaster Fuel Injector Cleaner. Tho, I doubt you have Motomaster products in the states as it's the home brand for Canadian Tire. Check the forum for recommendations on the best brand.Quote, originally posted by imanjuju »Changing the tranny fluid was another suggestion from the place I got it but that doesn't make sense to me.
