Has anybody seen or added a shifter extender on a manual 2009-2010? I like to rest my hand on the shifter and I find the shifter placement on the Vibe too far forward. Don't want to have to go all the way down to the tranny linkagecoupling to change it, just something that I can screw off the knob add an extender and screw the knob back on, or the knob that comes with the extender. Don't care if it ends up adding distance fro me to shift.I looked about on line and didn't see what I was looking for. Maybe I'm not calling it the right thing, resulting in poor searches. EDIT: Thinkin' now maybe this should go in "interior" threads. Many thanks.

well in reality, resting your hand on the shifter is bad practice, due to the little stresses it places on the cables, and thus the transmission. this kills the synchronizers which results in the car popping out of gear. so the best thing to do is to find another place to rest your hand... just a suggestion though! lol

Ahhhh, a girl after my heart I too toyed around with the thought of modifying my manual Vibe GT shifter to resemble what I had in my earlier Camaro/Firebird cars a few decades ago. A Hurst short throw bolted onto a Muncie close ratio 4-speed shifting a Chevy 283 punched, polished, ported, ....... etcThen I wake up and realize I'm driving a Vibe and it is the year 2011 However, never put anything past me. I can and will modify just about anything

LOL... Thanks all for replies. My other sticks never caused me grief for resting my hand on the shifter.Maybe I'll get a taller coffee cup to place in the cup holder. A bigger armrest would be good too. Size matters you know.RegardsS.

They are not factory designed as a resting place or even performance shifting. A better alternative would be to go to RedLineGoods.com and order a console cover with extra padding. It an option they offer, their products are fantastic and the optional padding doesn't cost much more.
