I have a stupid 3 year/ 36,000 mile warentee. I'm sure it will come in handy if they do a recall, but it sure is messsing my dreams up. I'm asuming exhaust, CAI, and super charger would definately void it but what about an underbody kit?
Different mods can void different parts of the warranty. For example: a CAI voids any warranty on the Mass Airflow Sensor, and possibly the VSV. It's tough to determine what will void the warranty and what won't. If you're ever unsure, your best bet is to call the service department, or Pontiac themselves. However, we do have several dealers, service reps, and Pontiac/GM employees on here who may be able to provide more accurate information in regards to what will, and will not, void the warranty.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Clearly, all depends on the service department. Some won't touch anything if it isn't straight stock.Others don't really care and will not hold it against you unless it's really screwed up or something...

They cannot simply "void" your entire warranty. Take a looksy at THIS thread. The dealer would have to prove the damage was caused by your modifications.
It's very easy for a dealership to scare a customer into thinking they can void your warranty. The dealer would much rather have you pay for repairs than the vehicle manufacturer because the vehicle manufacturer pays much less for the same repairs. Dealerships make a lot more money from customers than from warranty work. In all reality a dealer cannot void your warranty for any reason. The vehicle manufacturer is the one that does it and make the final decision. Now just because you install after market parts does not void your warranty. Now it may void certain areas of your warranty. Lets say that you take your muffler off and install a new muffler. This doesn't void your whole exhaust warranty. They wont cover your muffler anymore for common sense reason. The same goes for other things on the vehicle as well. One way to look at this is if you have removed it from the car and then reinstalled it, it may or may not be covered anymore. I installed a custom home made CAI on my vehicle. I had to remove the MAF sensor and temp sensor. If these sensors in the future ever go out it might not be covered but the rest of the engine is still covered. As well as the rest of the vehicle. They also have to prove that what you did is what actually caused the problem. This isn't as easy as people think it is.I have some warranty information on my website that might help answer this question as well. It's written around AMSOIL products but the warranty info could be used for any product.http://www.performancemotoroil.com/Warr ... gnuson.htm
