subwoofer help!!!

Post by mswvibe »

i have a 05 m/t base. i just bought two kicker comp series 8" subwoofers. im getting a ported box made wiith a hifonix 1200watt amp with all the wiring. my question is what should i do with the old sub? should i just disconnect the leads for the sub or what? does the amp only work for the sub or is it all connected to the speakers as well? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just unplug it. I still got mine sittin in there. Plus if you ever pull those out you can just reconnect it.

does the amp only give power to the sub or does it give off power to both sub and speakers?

Not yet, I still gotta get em. Buy one get one free from bestbuy. Can't beat two subs for $80.

The amp powers the sub and all speakers. It's actually pointless to unplug the factory sub bc you will still have some bass when you have to turn down/off your sub. Plus, to me anyways, it feels like the factory sub adds more depth in the midbass range. Just my 2 cents.

That is correct. All my speakers are working just fine and I no longer have the factory sub even in the car.
