Well, the rear are drums anyway, so i would just be an issue of the front ones...and like previously said, the brakes work stupendously...

On buybrakes.com the Matrix XR is listed as a fit for the OEM caliper big brake kit (front only). I would think that the brakes are the same on the XR and the base?.?. It also has the corolla listed as a fit. I thought we had the corolla's brakes. That's all I know.

quote:Come on people.Big brake rotors or the kit would help the Vibe stop better. If people mod the hell out of their Vibes and it adds speed, some people might add bigger brakes to help them slow down.. Damn. Sarcasm?I can lock my bakes and skid, so I figure that they are better at gripping the rotors/drums than my tires are at gripping the road. For me, I don't really need the brakes to grip better. But thenagain, I'm not really interested in practical application of the car's top speed either, so for me, I'm not considering the mod. You mayask "then what the hell are you doing in this thread?" That's is a good question, but instead of starting a debate, I'll just go find a different thread.

well on AEM's site it says the O.E. Caliper Two-Piece Big Rotor Brake Kit fits the 2003 pontiac vibe gt, was wondering if the base and vibe gt rotors and breaks r the same or is there differences with the gt besides the rear disc breaks. they also offer a rear kit too for this model.

The base and the GT use the same front brakes.

Maybe the big brakes only fit with the 17" wheels?

Standard wheels on the GT are 16". The 17" wheels are optional on both the base and GT.

Oops! Forgot: It's only in Canada that you can't get 17" on a base Vibe...

The rear kit is only for the GT. It doesn't come with the conversion kit to replace the rear drums the rotors. I'm not sure about the front brakes. I hope Nova is right.
