Glovebox filter

Post by bigdaddyjosh »

How often should I change this filter. Will a light pop in in the dash advising me to do so? I currently have 50k on an 09Vibe 2.4.

Inspect every 15,000 miles and replace every 30,000 miles. I replaced mine at 30,000 and it was pretty nasty. Not sure about a warning light, the manual has no reference to one.

No light.. Seems to have minimal light warning.. Not even a freakin' low washer fluid warning! You don't HAVE to change it, but I check mine every six months or so, and replace after a year.

And be careful! At least one other person and myself broke the tab trying to put the new one in.

I remember reading about the tab being broken off easily. When I replaced my cabin filter the instructions that came with it told me to turn the knob to where the air blows to the face or something like that. The filter went in and out smoothly without being caught on anything. I did turn the knob to another position and noticed the filter won't go in properly.

I remove our cabin air filters and blow them out with an air compressor every time I change the oil (every 2500 miles). I replaced them at 15,000 miles. They were dirty, but not anywhere near some of the ones I've seen people post on here . I plan on replacing them every 15,000 miles since they're cheap and easy to replace. Check this out if you're in need of a new cabin air filter .

It gets shaken out occasionally... Yes, some of us have the washer fluid light but you can't have one for everything!

I remembered this thread because of 09vGT post stating there was no low windshield washer fluid warning light and I found this really cheap from GM to not have one... but I got over it.Since I have my Vibe '09, I never had to refill my windshield washer fluid... but today I got my windshield dirty because of a goddamm semi-truck exiting a construction site, wheels and flaps full of dirt... so I used my fluid and I noticed a light turning on... I was freaking out at first but then noticed it was a LOW windshield washer warning light! So this leads me to say the CANADIAN model of the Vibe DOES have this light. Then, I checked the user manual, and there is one indeed.Plus, I am happy to have a Canadian Vibe because the cluster lights and warning are much better... in the US model, most of the warnings are plain text or have a symbol+text, but here in Canada, they are mostly all SYMBOLS, making it "prettier". Having text all over the cluster makes it weird in my opinion.Anyways! This was just to let you know that my Vibe '09 from CAN does have the LOW WWF light.

By the way, I checked on many sites and I checked many stores and I couldn't find any FRAM A&H FreshScent cabin air filters...I then checked on FRAM's website and they told me where I could get one in the US, but most of the sites I visited don't have stores in the NY state.I am going to New York in August and I plan on trying to find one for my car since there's none in Canada.Does anyone know WHERE I could find one relatively easily without having to make detours?I thought of going to Wal-Mart, as they list it on their global site, I just fear the store I will visit won't carry it in stock! So, if I have alternative stores to visit, it could make it easier for me!Thanks a lot!

I bought mine at http://www.rockauto.comnot sure it's worth any extra money. I didn't notice any difference. I just thought I would try them and they had a rebate. actually, they still have a $3.00 rebate but I think it's for the US only.
