'09 Vibe--Radio only works when in ACC mode

Post by Barriemaverick »

My radio only works when it is in ACC mode.....as soon as I turn the key to the ON position, both my ONSTAR and Radio stop working---but when I press either the CD eject button or the CLOCK button, the display shows what function I pressed......can anyone offer any suggestions?? My Warranty has run out so I can't have the Dealership resolve the issue under warranty......Thanks,

Have you checked all your fuses both in the cab and under the hood. I know I blew a fuse at one point and the radio, onstar, and some of the interior lights didn't work.

Welcome to genvibeI do not have any documentation on the 09's. On the 03-08's, the radio always gets its power from the ACC line (which only powers the CIG fuse), and the ignition switch is supposed to power that ACC line in both ACC and RUN positions. Same fuse/wires in both positions, so if it was getting power in ACC but wasn't in RUN, I'd blame the ignition switch. The radio also gets power froma a constant 12V source, useful for ejecting a CD or maintaining the clock when the car is off, but won't power on without the ignition switch switched power also. However, as I said, that's for the 03-08. It may be the same for the 09, but then again maybe not.
