Better horn?

Post by vit »

What are my options for a better horn in '10 GT? The factory horn sounds so inadequate.Something that does not require wiring and addition of relays. Not looking to scare pedestrians or compete with truckers.TIAVit

...if you've got a BIG sense-of-humor, go to a junk yard and pickup one of the Plymouth Roadrunner horns that went "meep-meep" instead of "beep-beep"!

I bought one from autozone I think. Did not have to cut wires or add anything else, just have to mount it since it's quite a bit bigger. The car now sounds more manly lol When I first got the vibe, I was driving to work and somebody cut me off and when I honked at the other car I couldn't help but laughed out loud at the "meep meep" lol The stock horn is more like "Hi, excuse me, you just cut me off, can you not do that again?" now the horn sounds more like "You $%@%#@ better not cut me off again!"

I personally love the sheer ridiculousness of the factory Vibe horn. It sounds so funny. It always makes me (and I'm sure others around me) laugh when I honk it . The most effective way of using it is laying on it for a good 5 seconds or so... very obnoxious !

My motorcycle's horn puts the Vibe's horn to shame. Pathetic!!!!But to somewhat answer your question, I think there is a post somewhere about the Camery horn or something else being a direct replacement.

(removed) ... I'm still laughing at this comment I'm actually ashamed to honk the Vibe horn and rarely do. Once when I honked if for the first time, I asked those around me "what was that noise?" Duh ... it's YOUR horn buddy I will eventually get a different one for my Vibe. Likely to come off an older Chevy or Ford where it will sound "manly" and more important AMERICAN

My vote is for a set of JDM Toyota Premium Horns. Search eBay. The listings on eBay are a little pricey, especially with shipping. But these have wiring connectors / harnesses that connect to the existing horn wiring and there is no need for any new relays or wiring. My father-in-law, who lives in Japan, bought me a set at a local dealer and sent them to me. I think they sound great. One horn bolts right in at the location of the existing horn and there is already a tapped hole to the passenger side of the hood latch for the other horn.If you're interested, I can get you the part number, but I don't think you can buy them from US Toyota dealers. JDM only.

Will have to give it some thought. couldn,t get the "sound of the horn" link to work so I have no Idea what they sound like. Anything has to be better than the stock Vibe horns Quote, originally posted by ponta2147 »I like the Hellas now that I actually installed them (and didn't post pics yet... don't hit me...) but they did require wiring and a relay, which the OP asked not to include. I'm wondering about the PIAA horns too. They sound good, simply judging from the clips on YouTube. I dunno how difficult it would be to install them. They also seem to get rave reviews on Amazon as well.
