Need some A/C advice

Post by chargervibe »

Was driving down the interstate yesterday and all of the sudden my A/C went out. Sounded like something clicked right beforehand. It won't cool at all now. Fan blows fan.Any ideas? I'm guessing it has something to do with the compressor. If so, what's that repair going to set me back?

Ouch! I guess worst case could be a grand. Or it might be something simple. In the old days I traded about every 3-4 years so never faced these issues. Now retired and I may want to keep my '09 for the long term so in the next 6 months will have to face the decision to risk it or buy an extended warranty. Lots of high tech stuff to go wrong on the '09 - ABS etc.

Turn motor off & look under the hood at the fuse/relay box. Remove the one for A/C Clutch Relay & replace it with the one for the horn , [ same thing ] located in the same compartment . Start car & turn on a/c. If it works,, you know you need to buy one !!!
