We drove slowly until we found the next OPEN gas station to go take a look. My right front tire had lost a lot of air, so we filled it up as much as possible to limp over to my dad's place which was on the way. He recommended leaving it at a trusted family mechanic a few blocks from his house, and took Chris in to work and me home. News this morning is that the tire had two small holes (probably from something stuck in them finally coming out) but the tire is now patched and drivable. Need to replace all the tires before winter anyway, so I guess I'm glad I didn't have to do it sooner... but now I'm carless until my dad gets off work since Chris took his car to another jobsite today! That sucks Michelle . I know from personal experience tire issues suck !Monday morning on my way to work the transmission starting acting up on the Vibe. I thought it was just my imagination or something, but it's been doing it on and off the past couple days, so today when I got home from work I checked my transmission fluid per the procedure in the owner's manual. The level was fine, so I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery for a while to reset the computer. I am hoping this takes care of it, but if not I will have to call the dealer and set up an appointment to take it in .

Oddly enough I was reading on here earlier today about the tire pressure light coming on (Didn't know that existed) and then on my way home from work it popped on in my 09 Vibe GT. I pulled off at a gas station and took a look around. The tires looked fine to me. Upon closer inspection I saw that my valve stems had had caps with little nitrogen logos on them. Is it ok to try to add some air to the tire if it was previously filled with nitrogen? I'm not even sure if thats whats really in there or not since I just bought the car used a couple months ago. Any thoughts?

I'd check it again later and see if the light is still on, or maybe it was a fluke that it came on?
Well today I cleaned the MAF, cleaned the PCV valve (because the two that I purchased on the internet and at the store were the wrong one.....), changed the air filter, and the rear wiper blade.Tomorrow I'm probably going to tackle the Belt Tensioner Pulley and then do some sort of full detail. I would love to share pics but my Camera disappeared with my ex girlfriend.. Oh well.
(Tires are all still up, light still on lol)Anyway.Today I applied the VVT-i 16V decal to the engine cover and also a genvibe.com decal to the rear hatch glass. ALSO** took the dealer badge off the back. The hot Florida sun and some GOO GONE did the trick nicely lol

The hot Florida sun and some GOO GONE did the trick nicely lolI had wheels and tires on my old Sunfire that I had gotten mounted and balanced through an online wheel and tire company. Supposedly they had put nitrogen in the tires before shipping them. They had regular valve stems and I always just used regular air in them. Never had a problem. I don't think it really matters.I would use an actual tire pressure gauge to make sure all the tires are at 32 PSI. If they are, you may need to follow the re-set procedure in the owner's manual to get rid of the TPMS light.Grafx Werks stuff looks great ! Glad to see you got rid of the dealer stuff as well .I called the dealer today and set up an appointment to take my Vibe in next Friday. The transmission is acting really weird. I'll go to take off from a stop and it bogs down, almost as if the engine wants to die, then all of a sudden the RPMs surge up and the Vibe kind of takes off like a shot. The RPMs seem to be higher then normal when I am driving to and from work and when I have the cruise control set, it seems to accelerate harder then it normally does. I sure hope it's nothing major . The Vibe will stay parked in the garage until it's time to take it to the dealer because I don't want to screw it up any worse then it may already be screwed up .

Maybe I should change my front fender liner on the driver side. I can't remember when I put a hole on it. Where did you get the new fender liner? How much is it?

Followed a Lincoln Navigator for a good 120kms through busy traffic at typical Alberta highway speeds. He just wouldn't get his *** out of the left lane or hold any sort of constant speed!!!I was finally able to pass him on the far right when it widened from 2 to 3 lanes, as were the other people who were pissed at him (saw 2 motorcyclests flip him off) at faster star_deceiver speeds... damn leftlane bandits. They're probably the only thing that pisses me off while driving! I hate driving angry... I just drive faster... and the car doesn't go any faster....Stupid asdfjkl;!!!! There... rant over! The hockey game calmed me down, and I made it in time to see the opening faceoff!Curious with the mileage of this tank now with speed and 0w20!
SO much more "fun" with the Vibe! The tire had to be taken in AGAIN to be repatched yesterday, it lost air overnight. At this location (there is coincidentally one by my dad's house and one by my house, it is a two-branch family operation) they found three more holes, and patched them all while I waited. They were very nice about it though, and obviously didn't charge me again. 24 hours and a trip into the city later, no more problems. I will check the air again tomorrow to be sure. %$(&$%&^ city drivers! I had some guy call me a "Stupid b****" three times because I refused to make a left turn into busy oncoming traffic so that a cab who sucked at driving could make a right turn onto my street (which he could have made had he known how to drive) which was therefore impeding HIS precious left turn. I mean, I get when people get mad and forgive them for it, but repeated personal insults go too far, and I very nearly got out and punched him in the face. >_Also an update on the headunit funtimes... the guy at Sonic Electronix has stuck it out with me for over a week, and got up through the highest level of the harness manufacturer (Metra/Axxess) before they realized........ their website and instruction manual are wrong, and the GMOS-100/GMLAN-29 is NOT compatible with my car! And the one that IS compatible with my car is not listed as being compatible!!!! Lol... well, at least I got them to correct their listings for the future, and gave the Sonic tech a good story. His name is Andrew and he has been super awesome researching these issues for me.We ordered what are supposed to be the proper parts (new harness, new satellite radio box [sadly there is no way to keep my factory radio despite assurances by Axxess to the contrary in their erroneous instructions], and new steering wheel controller). The parts come out to about $90 more than what I paid for the harness (but only $40 more than what it's listed for now) but the good news is that obviously the manufacturer is going to take back the harness as-is despite being used, because it was their false advertising that made me buy it in the first place!Whew. Like I said, when I get the whole headunit install done, I'll make a full separate post to document exactly what needs to be done, so people don't have to go through what I did.

Ok so a day after I added a little air the pressure light has gone out. Tires look ok to me and read at 32. Oil change is coming up in about 1K so I will have them double check then.
Today my wife and I: Vacuumed the interior, Washed the interior dash, doors and cargo area, Shampooed the seats (Front & Back), Washed & Waxed the exterior. Took close to 4hrs to do but its looking alot nicer now!
The other day I had to go get a 12' piece of molding for our bathroom after stopping by a salvage yard for lug nuts (wrong type. Stupid acorn nuts, I need mag nuts!) and a cargo mat off of a poor Matrix. It was actually sad to see a Matrix in such shape. Anyways, I got the cargo mat for $3. My dad told me that he needed the molding, and only my car or his truck were the ones which could carry it. I think I'm making some headway in this whole 'knocking the truck down a few pegs' goal I have!

What did I do to my Vibe today: I demanded that it take me to my wine store so I could order a case of Malbec from Argentina. It is a good thing that it complied!!! My car is such a good listener.
It was actually very easy to do, using Plasti-Dip.Taped off the area with masking tape/newspaper, sprayed it, then cut perfectly along the edges with an exacto-knife to get the perfect curves around the bumper.Next I want to do something to the front, just not sure how i'll do it yet (going to try a few takes with photoshop and see what i like best). Also need to get some black caliper paint and make them look new again

yeesh Carrie! anything transmission related is never any fun. is there someone who can check it out just as a precautionary measure? hope it was just a ghost in the system.and DoubleBaril, your ride is lookin sharp.===================i found a washer in with all of my "oil change stuff" and am wondering if it is the washer that goes on the drain plug...i took a peek and can see a washer on there but it looks like one of those bolts with the washer "attached" so to speak. i cant tell if it is the washer that is supposed to be there or not.do the 09 GT's have the washer/bolt combo deal or have i smoked too much crack? if not, how important is that washer for the drain plug?

The tech took it for a drive, nothing happened. He checked the transmission fluid level and quality, both were fine. He checked for TSBs and/or recalls... nothing. No codes either. So, of course... there was nothing they could do . Either I'm crazy or my Vibe has suddenly become possessed and is playing with my mind . Yesterday I put the stock intake back on (to avoid hassle at the dealer today). I also installed my Grafx Werks metallic silver "VVT-i 16V" engine cover overlay and painted some new plugs for the front bumper cover.

Anytime I do the select shift mode I will click to shift up and like 3 seconds go by before anything happens. In my friends '10 Maxima its instant shift!
I think you're comparing apples to oranges. Both transmissions but two completely different types. The Vibe comes with a std slushbox. Nissans these days usually have a CVT, or in the case of the Maxima, it might have an automatically shifted manual transmission. That makes a world of difference.I drove a Mazda6 a few years ago, a loaner. It had the same kind of trans as the Vibe does. It too was slow to react and I kept asking myself why even bother having a manual mode?

I really just wanted those bluetooth features (which have been awesome) and the USB features (which are also awesome). I'll just... have to see. Pouring rain today... really strong headwind... idiots everywhere... did close to the speed limit of 110 on the way home... I might be hard pressed to make 30mpg today!
back when my Vibe was at about 80K miles I bought a set of rear drum shoes and went to put them on, but the ones in there still had about 90% of the pad on them, so I stuck the new ones on a shelf in the garage. Today I figured that since now the Vibe has three times that mileage, surely it needs to have them replaced. So I checked them, and the factory ones still have about 2/3 of the pad left on them. Back to the shelf with the new shoes
Something isn't right there. No pad/shoe lasts 240,000 miles w/o tearing up the drum/rotor the rubs.I'm guessing those shoes are not self-adjusting as they should and as such you are not getting any (or much) rear braking when the pedal is applied.
