Rear Door Weatherstrip - Advice Needed

Post by esjones »

Hi all... I need some advice on my 2003 Vibe. The left rear door weatherstrip, the one on the car body, not the door itself, is coming off the car. Also, it is starting to split. I guess time just does that to rubber products!First, I tried to find this part on several GM parts websites without success. Can anyone give me a part number?Secondly, I took the car today to my body shop and asked what it would cost in parts and labor to replace it. The guy told me, "never mind the labor, the PART is $300!"Can this be true? I'm inclined to look at a salvage yard to get a replacement strip, but since the thing seems to be just crimped on to hold, I'm wondering if I could get a used part to stay in place.Thoughts? Many thanks. This forum is a godsend!

last summer i noticed the stripping on the hatch wasn't sitting right and basically i could just pull out. i went out and got some adhesive. sits nice now, seals the window properly. i've since noticed that some of the doors are doing the same kind of thing, just used it again and everything appears ok again. not sure if this can help with it cracking, though.
None. Vibe is gone.

I'm hesitant to say this is the right part because of the price difference but gmparts direct says part# 88969775, and they sell it for $56.12. From their illustration, it's the large rubber ring that sits in the body of the car which you can only see with the door open.

If you'd rather try the Toyota parts route, Toyotapartscenter.net has it listed at $43.12 plus $9.95 shipping for a 2003 Matrix.
