Headlight help

Post by shortbuskristn »

I recently wrecked my car and had to get a new bumper and headlight. Well the headlights are now pointing down and I am only able to see 20 ft in front of my car bc the guys were slackers on fixing it. So my question is how do I adjust the headlights? Tool wise and with lining them up on a wall or whatever? Also now one of my lights is not as bright as the other what is a good light that will last on is bright? Thanks for any help. Personal or best websites that tell.

It's been a long time since I looked at an 07 so I can't comment on where the adjusters would be (I'll search it in a minute).Clean the connections and replace both bulbs. There are many choices, my cheapie 80W have lasted almost 2 years! Stay away from Silverstars!!!

If you look on the back of the headlight you will see a small toothed gear. Put a #2 philips head screwdriver in there and turn. It will raise or lower the bucket of the headlight depending on which way you turn it.As for the height adjustment there is a whole procedure you need to follow. But to give you a down and dirty example. As you are driving behind a car with a trunk (i.e. honda accord, neon) at a distance of about 25-30 feet, the cutoff line for the light should be just below the top portion of the deck. This way here you are not blinding the driver infront of you or the oncoming traffic. As for the dim bulb, it could be the crappy bulb that came with the headlight it could also be the crappy aftermarket headlight itself(if that is what was used). I have noticed when I have done retrofits that the bulbs that are supplied with the aftermarket headlights are crap. I have also noticed that the output from the headlights are not as good as the OEM headlights. They were not designed very well.

If you can't get a screw driver in there, you can use a 10mm wrench. I use Gear Wrench when I've had to adjust my headlights.

If they are aftermarket lights they won't have the 10mm bolt head attachement

Your dealer should be able to do it. Take it for an oil change or something, and ask if they will check the aim. I've had my dealer raise my aim twice, both times free of charge. The service manager commented on how big of a pain in the (removed) it was to get them right.

As much as I would love to take it back to the dealer. I really am not on the trusting side toward them. They fixed my car and it seems the bumper isn't securely on there bc i can walk up to it and wiggle it. And some of the plastic pieces underneath to protect it aren't on there very well and I think a few pieces are missing. If someone could post a pic of the underside of their engine it'd help me out to figure out what I am missing exactly Also when I picked up my car my tools went from being in the far back when I dropped it off to being in the back seat and wide open. and most of the stuff from my center console was in my floorboard. Nothing they fixed would have required either of these to happen. Thanks for the help Ill let yall know how I do

I know on my 04 its a pain in the ***. Not sure if its the same. But its a bolt head off to the bottom outer side. I could barely fit a wrench in there to do it.
