Today out of nowhere the driver side window wont go back up. I havent had any symptoms of anything, it just stopped working. All the other windows work from the driver side switch panel. Is there a way to "jump" a switch so I can at least have it up for now? Right now my window is taped up with a trash bag. I took off the door panel checked all my connections to the switch & also sprayed the switch with some electrical contact cleaner.....no dice. Right now I dont even care about getting it fixed I just want the window up LOL !!!

this isnt much help but i think theres a way to take the door panel off and with a hex key you can roll it up manually. idk how to do it tho sorry. maybe you could try to figure it out. or hopefully someone else can help you
Actually that is a LOT of help. I wouldnt have even thought there would be a way to crank the window up manually. As long as I can get the window up im fine. I can figure out what wrong next weekend. Does anyone know of this procedure? Thx!

Here's another that might be useful.Looks like if youo cna put 12V cross the motor terminals, the motor will move, if it moves the wrong way, swap the wires to spin the motor the other way.
Thx guys! It looks like it may be the motor itself. I attempted today to remove it but I cant seem to remove the regulator from the window glass. The regulator is attatched a "scissor" mechanism and that is attatched to the glass. I cant separate the regulator from everything else. I know im right there but missing something. Im annoyed cause this is the second nite I had to "bag" my window up. Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to remove the regulator? I have searched 9th gen Corrola & Toyota Nation and no luck. All I get is bits and peices.

I just did some searching for you and it seems if it is in fact the motor you can hold the switch and hit the door with the side of your fist where the motor bolts to it to try and get it to engage. Sounds like the same idea I have used on bad fuel pumps and it has actully worked for me a couple times. I might have been wrong about being to crank it manually. Haven't seen anything about that.
Ok I got the window back up! I did exactly what you said and after a couple of taps with a rubber mallet and the window rolled back up. Its funny that you posted that because I found some info on 9th gen corolla where this guy used to do window tinting and used that same techniqe to get windows up. That was my last resort. I called up advance auto and they wanted 150-200 bucks for a replacement. Not neccessary now. Its a great tip. Works for starters as well, but I didnt think of it at the time. Thanks again.

My rear window just stuck down too. I saw your idea about tapping the INSIDE of the door around 2 oclock from the speaker position and it came up!THANKS!!!As far as the starter, yes, that worked for mine, but only twice, then it was time to replace it. I have POSTED detailed instructions on that job on the forumLAST QUESTION: Did the pounding on the motor trick fix the issue or is it just temp and a motor replacement will be imminent?George2003 Eny Green base Vibe with 143K on the clock. Very satisfied but as adding about a half quart of oil every 2k or so miles.
To be honest I have been afraid to try. My fiance lowered it by accident & it went back up with no problems. I also lowered it about an inch a couple of tims to test and its ok. I pretty much decided not to roll the window down until i have a replacement motor sitting in my garage. I dont want to get caught out there & not be able to roll the window back up...LOL. Glad it worked for ya!
