I know this has been discussed in a limited fashion but I wanted to get a new opinion on this. How many people have had issues with a leaking sunroof on their Vibes and how many times did it take to get it fixed? I have a rather badly leaking sunroof thats gotten worse over time. I took it into the dealership where I bough the car but its only gotten worse so I'm gonna take it to another dealership to see if they can get it fixed. I know there are water drains built into the roof but in the winter these can freeze/clog and cause possible damage.

i have alot of issues with mine. Mine leaked, then it got jammed because the shade got stuck under it and the glass wouldnt close. Of coarse dealer said it was my fault and that i opened it wrong.

Engineers come see me all the time with dealer inquirees as to why the GMC/ Chevy 1/2 tons leak water in different places. I'll see if I can get ahold of someone thru our plant.
they said that your not supposed to close the shade if the sunroof is open. I didnt close it, i left it half open and used tilt on the sunroof because on hot days it lets some of the hot air out of the car.
GM sunroofs are a problem that has been going on for years. It is not a huge problem but it does happen to quite a bit of vehicles. The sunroof assembly has so many moving parts that it is hard to diagnos what is causing the trouble. Most dealers just replace parts and that usually takes care of it. I recommend all people that have a sunroof to keep it clean and add some rubber treatment to keep it fresh and plyable. That is the #1 cause of roof leaks. Dirt and rubber seals that have been improperly installed and rubber seals that are stiff from wear. It is not a perfect world and GM has not perfected the sunroof and convertable tops either.
Just here to lend a hand to people who have questions about their Vibe.
Grrrrr the dealership I took it too uses some external company and the guy they brought in looked at it and they drug me back to say how there wasn't anything he could do to fix it. I just said ok and left rather than argue the point but since this doesn't seem to be happening to everyone I'm still not convinced this is normal. I dunno what else I can do short of take it to some dealership out of town that doesn't use the same outside company for the sunroof.

I don't know about that GM seems to like my car, first they broke the passenger door handle. then they cross threaded the oil pan drain plug and well this last issue was when they rotated the tires they snapped the one lug right off the damn car... I don't think it's you I think it's some of the people they try to pass off as mechanics.
Did they put down on the repair order what they did to fix the moonroof? I am putting a business case for the Vibe right now involving the luggage rack covering on the right front.

They say its a normal issue for the vibes apperently and that any adjustments they make could just make the problem worse. I'd prolly go back and get a manager involved but I leave shortly for Air Force Basic Training so it'll have to wait till after I get back.

And if they tell you the same thing, get on the phone with Pontiac. There is no excuse for that. If the car is under warranty, and something isn't work right, they are obligated to fix it, or replace it. That's the idea behind a warranty...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Better be assertive on following up with this. We had an issue with the motorized sunroof on our Toyota Previa (well, it is a heavily Toyota car). We used to open it a lot, back in the early days. Something got out of alignment, and the belt (?) that linked the motor and the moving glass snapped. End result: The roof wouldn't "lock" shut at all, and we had to replace the entire motor unit (can't just do the belt, everything is modular) to the tune of something horrendous - I've blacked it out now, but I remember many, many zeros - maybe $800 bucks? We had no choice but to fix it. Try rolling down the freeway with a roof that keeps working its way open.We had our mechanic fix it, which was cheaper than the dealership, but at the same time, they never quite got the safety features right, and we've basically accepted NOT opening the roof except under very special circumstances. My husband loves to open the sunroof on the Vibe, and I'm just waiting for the same drill to happen again... shame, huh?So do what you can if it is under warranty! It's an expensive fix if it snaps!MahaloDawn
well it is raining out here as many people know in Michigan and my sunroof is leaking on the front corners. What should I do about take it in or what. I cam out to my car after work and found all the windows fogged up due to water intrusion i assumed but i am still not sure. It was pretty hot in the morning but then rained like a some beatch and I noticed that in the front corners water drippping in . Where is it going?do they have drains at all? I don't know I am tired of going to the dealership about ****.

take it to the dealer have them drop the headliner and check to see if the hoses going down the a-pillars some how came loose from the sunroof chassis. I've seen it happen on the GM 1/2 ton trucks. either that or the hoses are clogged or pinched off.
