Remains of a former life

Post by Sublimewind »

Hi all,I was just going through some things and came across something very interesting from one of my former jobs... This is a 100% pure Silicon Carbide single crystal N-type wafer that is roughly 100um thick (human hair is 90-120um thick)This IS glass.. in it's truest sense, Si is one of the purest most abundant elements (Silicon Dioxide is what we see through day to day)

That was used for R&D, but mostly microchips are printed on SiC wafers... SiC is also used in sand blasting a lot.. Sic is a conductor or a "semiconductor"

Some more parts I found... This here is a gas feed-through made of ceramic, it insulates against RF being put into the vacuum chamber it was part of.. This is a 1000$ part... This here is called a "shower head" very specific gasses would be mixed and enter the vacuum chamber above the shower head... the pressure differential above the SH, would almost instantly disperse it evenly over the top of the SH, and then all of the small holes allow for "laminar flow" (straight from top to bottom)This is the bottom of the shower head, the wafer above would sit directly below this, the wafer would be charged with a negative charge, while the gas would get a positive charge PLUS getting hit with RF, which would crack the molecules and re-deposit at a specific coating... Top of the shower head, those with a good eye, will see 3 distinct burn marks where the gas "lit off" above the SH, rather than below... (I'm creating gaseous plasma) This is a 5500$ part.. And finally, the top and bottom O-rings for the shower head.. The bottom O-ring... 950$The top O-ring... 1100$
