Anybody know what the 3 stands for in the seventh digit?

Oh, that wasn't intended at anyone in particular man! Heck, it's the title of the whole thread! Don't take any offense to it, it was an attempt at being funny. It's one of those things that everyone says, kinda like ATM machine.

We sent an email with the VIN of our Vibe to Sara at:tours@nummi.comand she sent back a "birth certificate" with the exact minute when it rolled off the assembly line.BTW, we just added a third NUMMI vehicle. My wife liked the Vibe we bought for our daughter in May so much that she wanted one of her own and we just picked it up yesterday. So now we have two red Vibes (Salsa and Lava) and a blue '87 Chevy Nova (Corolla clone) - all from NUMMI.
"what all did you send them to get the certificate?"When we registered for the free NUMMI factory tour I had indicated that we owned a couple of their products (Nova and Vibe). At the end of the tour Sara asked us to come with her and she gave us a couple T-shirts with Pontiac on the front and VIBE on the back and also mentioned that if we sent her the VIN she'd look up the assembly time. So I emailed her the VIN and she sent back the attached Powerpoint slide. But their records didn't go back far enough to find the information on the Nova I bought in '87.
just found this vin card .pdfhttp://www.gmgoodwrench.com/gm...S.pdfThe 3 is Active (Manual) Belts w/Driver & Passenger front airbags and occupant sensor.

No side as I don't see any markings on seats or roof as in every other car I've owned with side air bags.Anyone ever figure out what '3' means?
